I found this in the big dunes to the west of the riding club.

Anyone know what it was, how it got to be out here and what it was doing here.

The corrugated plate looks like a liner plate from a jaw crusher (saw a retired, smaller specimen in MA1 around M110 area)

As for the big frame... after much deliberation can only make it out to be a chassis of sorts; perhaps locomotive...?

All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!

Hi Andrew,
I think your first suggestion is correct. It looks more like a crusher or jig frame. My reason for not going with the loco theory is that it has provision for only one axle. A loco body that size, in fact any loco body, would have at least two axles.

Bob.

However, if vehicles in general are the focus, cut and paste the following reference into Google where you'll find a picture of Oranjemund's largest scrapyard taken before the metal merchants got their paws on it. Some of the road vehicles were in such good shape that if an extra truck was needed for a day or so we'd go out with an air pump, a spare battery, a can of gas, start it up and drive away.

Bob.
