Where's the Thousands?

  A lot of business people are not too happy.... many were expecting at least 1000 people (in fact they were told by certain people to expect 2000)to stay over in Omund, houses were allocated to them, free of charge, to run as a B&B for a few nights..... they put furniture into the homes, but the houses stayed empty, as the 1000 visitors did not arrive.......

I do not think this is going to be the end of this tale........

Heard that quite a few people took out loans to try the B&B thing, now they got screwed, nobody staying with them, whisperings of backhand graft going on....... once again people in positions doing their sidelines....

Will post more, hoping to receive a signed letter from a few disgruntled residents.....

I got a 4 bedroom house, N$1000 deposit. All well. 14 people could have sleep in the house. I was told on Monday that by the organisers they are not going to use the house because they want to give the 'blacks' a change to make some money. All I lost was my domistic and gardner working their asses of to clean a yard and house that was not used in months. Normally I stay clear of these events, so next time

A bit of a blind action there... that's all you lost, whatabout the poor suckers who kitted houses out with furniture too???

Wednesday morning 06h15 driving to work along 8th Ave past the squash club approaching 8th Street (Town centre circle) when a white GRN registered Toyota Fortuner comes round the bend in the middle of the road, no hazards or flashing lights... no dignies in tinted windows following him; just keeps to the middle of the road and forces me off my side of the road, nearly into kerb... b@$#@rd!

I hope all these overly "important" folk have left our little town now... I want a peaceful weekend without disruption to a normal routine.

Andrew, don't you mean 7h15. I only heard the hooter and brakes. We saw the white SUV standing at the circle. Anyway you are safe.

The people who furnished the houses are not the only one's that lost a lot of money. The people had food stalls and nothing was sold.

At the meeting at OTM Co it was said that no one will be alowed to sell booze. A certain mininstry official had two stands selling booze.

Then there was another two cars involved, one was a big white SUV and a small car. The shop opens at 7 am. There is no way I will be at the shop at 6 am.

Some people had visitors who left without paying. Some even took souvenirs with them.

At least we have the benifits of the upgrading of the town and less speeding GRN cars.

Riaan, you may be referring to another incident, ours was 06h15 'cos we wasn't late for work that day.

The "masses" have left, well most of them... I still see a few strange characters roaming up & down the street with rather long necks checking out what's in the gardens as the pass. Remnants of the "open gate" issue for the visitors...

Sure we scored a few minor improvements to town and surrounds... but have you seen all the garbage and crap left behind by the visitors... driving to town 2day along 1st Ave and the gates of the houses used in the area standing wide open with garbage strewn around the yard and blowing up street... So who's going to clean that up. Perhaps the visiting occupants were diligent enough to put the refuse into a bag or box for disposal but they didn't know about Omund's street dogs and jackals looking for a snack in the trash.

Pretty much  to be  expected ... Open Gate  depending ... hmmm   the attached  came to mind when I thought  of the open gate ...   you can add you own expressions  and then we compare notes ,,..
