Wow! ~ OPS 2009 Prize-giving!

Wow, tonight was a historical moment at OPS! It was the first prize-giving ceremony for the Grade 8's (Std 6 in the old Lingo!)..... An historical moment, because 2009 was the first time ever in the history of OPS that we have a High School class...... numbering some 54 pupils....

Now, the last time I was on the stage in the Big Hall at OPS was way way back in 1982.... Yep! Some 27 years ago....... and now I had the honour, the humble and historical honour  of being the guest of honour..... how strange and nostalgic it was, to sit on that stage, wearing a tie and jacket, looking out at those pupils, for a brief moment  allowing my mind to slip back to 1982...... wondering where they all went to.......... the only familiar faces from that era being, Sharon Holland (Wilson), Dawn Watt (Johanson), Neville Smith and Anita....... the rest ...long since gone..... those "many hands from many lands".....

It was also with a great sense of pride to see the future of Namibia get launched from our humble school..... kids going places..... to make their mark on the world... all from a school in the desert......


I would like to thank The Principal , Dieter Meyer for allowing me to share his stage on this incredible occasion.....
