I know that this article is from way back in 84, but what happened to the street sweeper? How did die? Was it sold for scrap?

I somehow vaguely remeber the big white one... don't know what happened to but do remember it being replaced with a fancy yellow IVECO jobby that could be controlled from the left or right hand sides. It looked funny from the front with two steering wheels. Quite a gadget it was until they discovered the maintenance it required and the unavailability of parts.
After heavy rains it would have to suck up the water in the intersection outside the main office building on Mine Road and around George Square by the United Church. It had a handy boom with huge suction hose that could be manouvred to suck out debris from storm drains etc.
Me thinks it was purchased around the early to mid 90's and didn't see the millenium in Omund as it was eventually auctioned off or sold on tender.
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!
