I think I need to get my eyes checked. I don't remember marrying a Matt Damon lookalike!

@ Bobby Smith

If it comes in TV and i am here i try to record it

About 25 years ago i made a recording on a Beta Recorder ( long time ago now scrapped) then i copied to VHS, quality is very bad since i had not PC that time to digitalize. Lots of my Videos have faded. Now DVD is the answer, but they sometimes dont last

Dalene Steenkamp (Coetzee)

Mike, I think the choice of charity once again would have been Casey's!  Sh..t, this stuff makes me laugh.

I wonder what bloody fine my dad would have given himself if someone had come to lay a charge against him for his more than soft snoring (after a lekker kuier with Jan Matthee at the pup) during The Hindenburg.  He only woke up at the end of the movie during the final scenes where the air-ship and a whole lot of people were on fire.  Gave a huge fart - made all the people around us laugh - then said: "Ag, dit was nou 'n kak fliek!"

During Dr. Shivago he also caused a moerse unpopular pole for himself when he started handing out tissues to all the crying tannies around him.  I know for a fact that tannie Haaspaai (Hilda) Laubscher, tannie Linda Coetzee (rooi Andries's wife who was a nurse at the hospital), and my mom gave him a good uitkak after that - they reckoned he was seriously not funny and unsensitive.

Ja, ou big Dirk was one of a kind - miss the old man a lot - he passed away in May 1999.

Come to think of it - did'nt Hugo van Rooyen open a "drive-in" in somewhere in 1983 when he drove his bakkie through the wall of the flieksaal?  Ask Adriaan about it - I'm sure he will remember it too.
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of other cannot keep it from themselves.

I remember the black and white Tarzan movies that used to show at the Saturday matinees.  The boys used to run out of the movie doing their best Tarzan cries!!

Florrie van Zyl (Muir)

Remember before every movie they used to show a serial. In my time it was SHAZAM! After every Saturday matinee we used to go home and re-enact it with the Laubschers. There was always a fight over who would be SHAZAM. It was usually Kevin and he would climb on the fence, make-believe he was prssing a button on his belt and try to fly off the fence. The Laubschers also taught me to jump off the roof of the house with an umbrella. Those were the days......

Mike I remember the streaking incident, it was the talk of the town. Does anyone remember this weird spanish guy who had this hairy chest and used to wear his shirt open to the buckle and posed on the round-about outside caseys?

On the Kannie Worrie Farewell video , I noticed A guy that had a moustache and wore his shirt open past the halfway mark on his chest, looked like he was outta place and should have been in Corsica or somewhere else...

You have all mentioned many films I remember from my time. Western, Beautiful People, Jaws and son on. Remember seeing many movies with the "Rat PacK", James Dean, Jerry Lewis, cheap eastern movies and last but not least Robert Redford and Paul Newman in "The Clou". I think it's the name in English. It's been on German tv often enough now. Butch Casidy and Sundance Kid was a restrictid movie I only saw on German tv in the 80s. Jody Foster in Bugsy Malone and of course John Travolta in Greace ect.
We always dreamed of going to the evening movies, costing more and being restricted.
What I found astounding was, many movies banned in SA or ristricted pg18 or even pg21 you would see uncut on tv here.
Do you still have pg21 in SA? In Germany you are grown-up at the age of 18 and hve all the rights of an adult.
Nothing special. Just some clips I put in youtube.de

There's still age restrictions in SA, pathetic, I was on leave a few weeks back and wanted to watch a movie with my two girls while mommy was shoppping the mall, even with me, with my kids at 10h00 on a tuesday morning they would'nt let us in to a PG10 movie...... I bring my kids up in a liberal manner, and do not hide the truths in the world from them, I do not allow them to startswearing or being abusive etc, but rather to have an open mind, who are the cinema's to dictate to me what my kids can and can watch... anyone want to debate,

talking of old movies, I just got a copy of Paul Newman and Robert Redford in THE STING on my USB flash and am looking forward to watching that classic again....

Hi Michael. Maybe the sting is the movie I meant.

Are Michael Moore movies banned in SA?

I find it strange that we can allow our kids to watch anything on TV, and that is much worse than I've seen at the movies. Reminds me of my "laat lammetjie", he grew up with 3 teenagers so was exposed to all sorts at an early age. One day he asked me what SEX was? I replied that it is when a boy and girl have a smooch. A while passed and one day we were having an Saturday afternoon snooze when he came running down the passage shouting that his older sister was having sex. His father nearly had a heart attack and needless to say, I then had to explain to my son what sex really was. My husband said what would I have done if he had told his teacher that his mom and dad have "sex" every morning and evening when dad goes to the farm and comes home again. Never thought that far. :36_2_35:
