Not one of my favourite characters, but I fear that after this tale, here comes major problems....

"Cape Town - AWB leader Eugene Terreblanche, who campaigned for a separate white homeland, was murdered on Saturday on his farm, it has been reported.

The 69-year-old Afrikaans Resistance Movement leader was attacked and killed on his farm in the North West after an alleged dispute with two workers, one a minor, over unpaid wages. The two were arrested and charged with his murder.

"Mr Terreblanche's body was found on the bed with facial and head injuries," police spokesperson Adele Myburgh was quoted as saying.

"A 21-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were arrested and charged for his murder. The two told the police that the argument ensued because they were not paid for the work they did on the farm," she said.

Terreblanche's white supremist supporters, characterised by khaki uniforms and the organisation's swastika-like symbol, violently opposed the talks that led to South Africa's democracy.

Their campaign included bomb attacks ahead of the 1994 polls.

Terreblanche was released from prison in 2004 after having been jailed in 2001 for an attack on a black security guard."

Maybe Malema should be sued for plotting a murder - didn't he say that's what his followers were supposed to do - kill the boer?? Isn't that a contract killing then?

Not good so close to the soccer spectacle - just one more step to realizing we're going to be the world's biggest fools in about 67 days.

Watching the TV this morning, notice how quick Zuma was to phone the deceased's family, urging tolerance.....

I'm sorry about this, even if this mans belief is VERY different to mine. This is no way to solve problems. You guys know my opinion.
I hope the followers stay under control... Both sides.

This is froM news24 this morning.....

"Ventersdorp - Police had to separate black and white groups with razor wire as tension mounted outside the Ventersdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday ahead of the appearance of two people expected to be charged with the murder of AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche.

Armoured vehicle stuck

As the police were unrolling the razor wire from their armoured vehicle, they drove into a ditch and got stuck, setting off the singing of the Afrikaner folk song "o, help 'n bietjie daar" (lend a hand), with some of the white people shouting, "find a boer and a tractor" and laughing at the police as they struggled to complete their task of separating the two races.

The white group then sang "Bobbejaan klim die berg" (the baboon climbs the mountain), before a farmer appealed for calm."

Realy!!! the police were seperating the two races!!! Isn't that against the law these days or have some old laws been renacted? My 2 cents (plus another 0.4 cents for the upcoming fuel increase) on this matter:

1. Eugene is dead, the world is a better off place without him. Had he never existed I fail to see what we would have possibly lost out on as a species.

2. Eugene was murdered, well this just sucks there's not much one can comment on  because murder can never be justified... or can it?

A couple of years ago a group of us were discussing the 9/11 event. The question raised was that the perptrators were by and large extremely intelligent individuals, most of them held reputable tertiary qualifications from well know western institutions, they also did not have much in terms of fundamentalist upbringings and had the competency to fly aircraft (passing at the top of their respective classes) so what would it take to drive people of this calibre with seemingly so much to offer the world to want to make such a mind blowing statement with the ultimate sacrifice? Eventually the discussion came round to empathy and perhaps a failure by Western nations (particularly the US) to understand the impact that their economic, political and social global activities were having on other nations (in short, their unwanted interference in the middle east was enough on an incentive to commit this attack). Now as for ET's murderers, can you imagine working for that right wing racist for a paltry 300 bucks a month, then still getting screwed out of it at the end? Can you imagine being the only breadwinner for a family and not being able to provide? Just how frustrated must you be? I get pissed off enough when the bottle store runs out of draught so I'd imagine it wouldn't take that much to finally crack. Not one of use is as stable as we'd like to believe (just imagine yourself in the middle of your most cringworthy verbal fight with somebody and recall how fast your common sense and logic left you). I don't condone the murder but I certainly think South Africans and in particular white south africans need to take a very long and intensive introspective look at themselves and think carefully about how much they really respect and treat other races!!! Think I'm joking? Ever listen to Whackhead Simpson? If you do, note how differently white people speak to other white people taking the micky out of them compared to when they think they are speaking to a black person however when they prank a black individual talking to a white or black person the tone is almost always respectful and sincere.

3. The white backlash: are you kidding!!! the AWB is a joke, it always was and always will be, they epitomise the absolute minority, they wish it was a political killing but it wasn't. Military fatigues, Nazi like flags, stormtroopers... the biggest bunch off copycats out there, why didn't they just all grow pencil moutaches while they were at it (I think some of the woman actually did!!!).

4. The ANC government: Grow some balls and take a stand on Malema, do you really believe that ANY of his actions are in the best interests of the country, stop hiding behind the freedom of speech. You want honest government, drop the salaries to that of till operators and provide a financial bonus to the tune of the difference at the end of the 4 years based on how well they delivered their service, outlaw all forms of involvement in any other business while in office. With paupers in office you can gaurentee that those serving genuinly have the interests of the country at heart!!!

And while I'm at it I'd like a pink pony and an action man and..... bla bla blaaaaa

Paul Alexander

Although, here's a thought...

I think we'd all agree that Malema is best classed as "a struggle veteran without a struggle", he was 9 years old in 1994 and did not realy experience much of appartheid. I'd go so far as to say, that the one thing he wants more than anything else is some kind of war or fight. A lot of his strategies at present are quite simiular to those of the Nazi's pre WWII. In order to appeal to the masses, you need a scapegoat, in this case, 'the rich white folk who posses most of the factors of production and material riches'. This would explain his 'nationalise the mines' and 'transfer white dominate assets to blacks' campaigns and of course his recent public support of mad Bobs land grabs. Still nobody was getting angry enough, so then come his rendition of 'shoot the boer' which he has never sang so much as since he found out how contentious it was.

Given all this, is it then feasible to suppose that he could be the invisible hand orchestrating ET's demise in order to further add fuel to the fire of hate?

Agreed  Paul , folk of  limited  intelllect  tend  to take  what  " leaders"  say literally  and if  a " leader "  said  its  Ok  to Kill the Boer  then well  they could  regard it as justifed ...  look at mob mentality throughout history ,,, always people  who dont think things through  inadvertently  end up doing  the  spouters  of the populist  words  bidding ... in closing its time the ANC grew up and realised the " struggle "  is long  over  , the " struggle " songs  and rhetoric  have no place  in  our current  so called   new democracy .. ..  and yes time for the  leaders  to take a  strong stance  and not couch words ,  tell the mamparras to shut  up or face  the consequences ...

From News24 this morning.... I don't see how this is gonna work...... at the next mass rally, he will stay silent, but the masses will start to sing the song now.....

"Cape Town - Julius Malema is no longer allowed to sing the words "shoot the boer" in a controversial struggle song, the ANC said on Tuesday.

He is also not allowed to make any statements about murder victim Eugene Terre'Blanche or do anything provocative.

Gwede Mantashe, secretary-general of the ANC, confirmed to Beeld on Tuesday night that he and President Jacob Zuma met with the ANC youth league leader.

"I've just come from Ma¬hlambandlopfu (Zuma's official residence in Pretoria), where I told Malema to refrain from making inflammatory statements. He is also not allowed to sing the song ("Ayesab' amagwala") in its entirety," said Mantashe.

"There will be very clear outcomes regarding Malema after our conversation with him. People will be able to see the result. The ANC and the youth league will restrain him."

He said if singing the words "shoot the boer" is leading to polarisation in society, the ANC will put a stop to it.

However, only the ANC can make such a decision and only after internal discussions, "because it is we as the ruling party who are leading society".

"However, we are convinced that a political solution, as opposed to a legal one, will provide a holistic solution.

"I'm no protector of Malema, but the irritation he causes and the problem... needs to be isolated and solved," said Mantashe."

Looks like the beginning of something big:

Johannesburg - The ANC on Thursday expressed its shock at an SMS promising a R2m reward to anyone who kills its youth league president Julius Malema.

The ANC was taking the threat "very seriously" and had reported it to Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa for investigation, ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said.

"... This SMS is clearly a public declaration to kill," he said.

The threats were a reminder of the rightwing propaganda campaigns of the past against ANC members who were eventually assassinated.
