Now this is a fairly large piece of paper, So I tried my best to scan it and join , not the greatest job, but legible....

It's an image file, so best you download it to your desktop and then zoom in....

I also see the age of the houses is 55 Years...

Exactly my point Mike, the houses are ancient and the price they asking is rediculous. I will buy one for R1.00 LOL

Yeah....1 thing 2 buy the propetry.....the land on which it is "sitting"
is the big deal!!!!!......
N$ 80,000.00 for a 1960 house.......cool. But what about the plot???????

And where is your plot??? According to the E-mail, the seller is allowed to sell you ANTHING.....without landmarks. "Jy kan nie later kom vra, waar lê my erf nie."

Like Mike A said.......So many Questions?????

Think thick PPL!!!

My 2 cents.......

Believe that not too much interest was generated and the closing date has been extended.....  ThatStinks2

Do you blame anyone???
Proclamation has been postponed so many times who knows when we'll hear the verdict on the land issue?
According to the big sheet, house 45k, plot 90k, total without admin charges, fees and levies etc 135k.
Hey sure thing; buy the joint, if all goes sour, spend a month or 2 to dismantle the place (if laws don't prohibit)... crush and screen the bricks and concrete, there must be a few carats in there at least to cover the initial purchase price. Strip down the roof trusses and and wooden floors, build Cape Dutch style furniture with the Oregon Pine (very sought after) and leave the vacant plot for the local ancestrals to reclaim as theirs.

End of the day you are bound to have made some kind of profit out of that even if not from the resale of the house itself!
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!

Not too much interest shown in them there houses in 1st avenue....?

I was wondering why the mine has not advertised these houses in the national newspapers?

I don't see the point in the current Omund population buying these houses, we need outsiders to buy and then relocate bringing in "new" money to the local economy which is less dependent apon the DeBeers cash cow....

Spoke to a well placed source last night, turns out interest picked up on the houses and that 4 ex retired Oranjemund pensioner couples were planning to relocate to Oranjemund.......

This might get interesting, but 4 is a mere dripple compared to what could be achieved if the houses and town were market through the proper channels.......

Don't you have sausage rolls to eat?

Adding to the retirement angle to the future of the town, A chap just phoned me, a company employee and is heading for retirement and want to retire in town, was enquiring about my late father's place.....

We know Johan retired here, So did Eric Mallisch, The Handleys, the Hewitts...... .... so what makes oranjemund a nice place to retire...

When will the powers that be, read the other topics on the this forum, with regard to retiring in ORANJEMUND, and get their arses into gear and start to market the town to "outsiders" who will bring in the "new" money to the economy.,..... with an older retired population, you will find it easier to offload your hospital to a private concern.....

Mike A, your mother in law is sick and fed up making sausage rolls, so now I have to wait for a function at the Bowling Club before I can have one of hers.

You are quite right with your comments Mike, retiree's do generate income and the infrastructures are already there...........

Sources inform me that 34 out of 40 houses have been sold and will be announced shortly...

I also have it from a reliable source that a company from WHK was looking to purchase 10 houses, but arrived to late, they have duly instructed their agent to procure 10 units on the next round.....

I am led to believe that some people have been notified of their successful tenders on the houses, one of the 40 000 buck houses going to a chap for 170 000, don't have any confirmation yet, but if the high price is to be believed, then it will add value to the town at the end of the day..... just need more outsiders to become insiders.....

@Bertie, starting with the empty houses , the older houses in town, I think it is more of a test to see what response is forthcoming!
