Cool Alf, wondered when our Cape Town correspondents were going to post something... perhaps they are still mourning.

Here are another 2 clips that I liked, had good view.

This one has nice view of the whole towers...

And this one is real close up with big sound...

I like the comment of a Cape Tonian interviewed on radio just after the implosion...

Radio dude: So how do you feel now that the towers are gone?
Other dude:.... Empty........!!!

Definitley sad to see a well recognised landmark being removed... It served its purpose though technically and unintentionally geographically too. If it is a risk; then all the better for the safety aspect.  I just wonder how long then until the smoke stacks and the rest of the station come down too...? They probably are not as much of a problem to bring down and they are further from the road.

All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!

Cape Town early for a change they went down at exactly 11.56:23.
The birds nesting in them were moved to the thinner tower on the powerstation building itself...thought that was rather cool.

Quit impressive and I noticed the spectators were kept a good distance away. In 1997 in Canberra they demolished a hospital it was billed by local officials as a family event. The demolition sent debris flying into a crowd of thousands of onlookers, killing a 12-year-old girl at least nine other people were injured when the planned implosion went wrong.
