A main waterline along 5th avenue burst on Sunday morning, creating a mini lake..... spoke to the folk in the water reticulation industry, reckons  a T-type connection failed and then a large asbestos pipe was damaged, taking two days to repair...

We spoke about how this trend of burst pipes is becoming more frequent..... as the infrastructure is about 30 years past it's use by date.... now , please tell me who and with what money is going to foot the bill for these types of "failures" once the town is proclaimed.....?

The future municipality will not be able to "afford" these incidents......

and we will be like the rest of the municipalities in Namibia, bankrupt.....

just my 2 cents....

Mike, it's not just the fresh water lines that are way past their use date, the other two main utilities namely sewage and electrical reticulation are also way past their use dates. I shudder tro think how much it will cost to repair any of these utilities if they start to pack up one after the other...........

Electrical point was mentioned this morning AT Spar Mike, we were considering how old the water system in the town, imagine the fire hazard from the old electrical wiring.... you know those, quite out of site wires.....

The sewage ain't too bad, I guess that's what is keeping the lawns and tree's in town green.....

but imagine the headache any future municipality is gonna have......
