The Yacht Club Tunnels!

I remember in the 70's down at the yacht club , there were a lot of thand made tunnels dug into the side of the earth by the carpark.. lotsa tunnels being dug by the kids... anyone else?

What  was  it with  us in  that  town ? .. seems  we  just wanted  to  dig tunnels ??  then  again  we  have  acknowleged  that  we  grew  up  " different "   we  had  the    safety   of  a  small  town which had  one  difference ,  that  it was  cosmopolitan  in  its  make  up  of  nationalities,  had enough  newcomers  to  expose us  to new  ideas  unlike some  country  towns ,  a  sort of happy  mixture of  the simple  life  but with a  difference ..
So tunnel  we did  ..  built  tree  dens  we  did ... built  underground  dens we did .. had our  own  jungle  in  the  form  of  the  trees .. yes   lucky us ,  we  had all  we  needed to  fuel  our  imaginations .

We built the most awesome of dens at the bush's at the end of our street , that ran at 90 degree's from the 1st ave bush's, opposite E1-1 ave..... underground it was, and covered in leaves, nobody would ever find it..... we could've held out for at least 6 weeks if the Germans or Boers came to attack... the scorpions from 1st ave we were....
