Don't know if this is a good sign or not, turns out that the school is bursting at the seams for 2012. Even heard of folk not being able to get a place for their kids in the school..... Not sure how this happens....

Did hear that there was a rather large number of failures in the high school that might have added to the congestion problem.

For what it is worth, the general consensus on the failures has little to do with the system , but more to do with parents neglecting their duties towards their offspring's education..... it's funny how the majority of the kids that fail are the same kid's who's parents you do not see at all the various school meetings and events and do not contribute any of their time to extra mural activities......

One get's the impression that they "dump" their kids at school and then expect the school to perform miracles.... "you can lead a horse to water......"

As for kids being turned away due to the school being full, two things come to mind...

1) Has anyone seen how a good school can be a profitable business and be expanded apon and draw people to Oranjemund as a Learning destination? Imaging Hostels and techincal college for after school.....

2) Somebody pointed out to me yesterday, we currently have a large number of pupils at the school who's parents do not even live in the town.... they are shipped down here, due to the good name of the school and get to live with extended family members..... surely locals should first option to enter the school....

A contradiction but an idea.....

This school is an asset to both the mine and the community.... SUPPORT IT!!!!!!

Sounds like the school system is being abused...... no wonder the company wants to get rid of it...  cat1.gif

A rather strange situation. Solution: Build some temporary classrooms and hire temp teachers.

I agree locals should get preference. Then again why did the locals not register end of last year already and not wake up at the last minute when it's too late??
