Apollo 13 commander Jim Lovell looks on as the highly respected Guenter Wendt (White Room Chief), wearing spectacles, organises the loading of the Apollo 13 crew before lift-off.

Had the crew not been so well trained and prepared to deal with crises, (see Jim Lovell below leaving a training flight simulator) then Gunther and his crew would have been the last human contact the three astronauts would ever have had.
