I am fed up...... for how many months do we have to sit without any water pressure in this town..... I am tired of trying to water my garden with a 30cm  spray of water.... last night took me 2 hours just to water 9m sq  of my lawn, I get up early this morning to continue watering..... 20 cm spray..... THE TOWN IS LOOKING DISGRACEFUL...... BROWN GRASS EVRYWHERE! TREE:S DYING....... WE UNDERTSAND the pumps need replacing...... but jeepers people in charge, how many months..... MY TOWN IS DYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the old school that ran this town would have had replacement pumps here within the week........ you bastards don't give toss about the town............. you' are letting it go to pot..... the town council should be putting pressure on somebody..... yesterday it was nice to see real tourists in town.... by the bakkie load...... the perfect time for the town to be marketed..... and what do we have to stun them with..... brown/yellow grass everywhere with dead tree's   WHAT A DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!! somebody should be strung up from the dead tree's...... GIVE ME BACK MY WATER PRESSURE>>>>>>>>>   23_146_26 thumper

and yes! this is a democracy and I am entitled to get angry and air my views..... if one more person emails me or grabs me in the store to complain about the dead grass and water pressure.... I will explode......... SOMEBODY WAKE UP!!!!!

Mike if you string up those responsible for the demise of the town, the trees that you want to use will never stand up to the dead weight of those people.

Not only that, what about the lights that are also out of action, some have been out for many months, if not years, take Sixth Ave for example. Or is the Abbey still out of action waiting for spares.................????????

 bravo bravo  To whoever read this post (I assume) This morning I awoke to a rocket of water pressure, managed to water a large chunk of my lawn..... but wait, it get's better.... on the way down to work, I almost crashed the car, was astonished to see the yellow patch of grass (desert) opposite the magistrates getting watered.... this is the first time in four months (if not longer) that I have seen this once beautiful piece of grass being watered..... in addition to this.... the small yellow patch of grass next to the museum was also being watered.... so it may not be too late.... where there is a way there is indeed a will....

Latest minewide with regard to our current water situation....

For what it's worth, nice to have communication on the matter.....

"Dear Oranjemund Residents

Just to follow up on my previous communication about our water situation:

•   The supply of water from the Fellman Wells and borehole pumps is consistently less than the average consumption of town and mine;
•   A few breakdowns were also experiences in the last week, which did not help our cause but it have been sorted out now;
•   To thus ensure adequate availability of water, the booster pump in town is stopped between the hours of 23h00 and 04h00 to replenish the water level;
•   The Fellman Wells have been cleaned and its performance improved significantly, however the pump can only supply at a specific rate;
•   An application has been submitted to add 4 more boreholes to our water extraction permit and this has been approved;
•   In addition, spares and material are on order to install and commission 2 more boreholes by end of January 2013 and 2 more later in the first half of 2013;
•   We are confident that the additional 2 boreholes will fill the gap between extraction and consumption by end of January and the other 2 will allow us to have some spare capacity;
•   An investigation will also be done, in 2013, on the feasibility of another Fellman Well.

I want to urge you to be water wise and use water sparingly.  We have also established a few ground rules in an attempt to have enough water to do the parks, lawns and sport fields.

Not that it help much... I called and put in a request to come and fix a water pipe that's leaking seriously.  Guess what, up to now no one has turned up to have a look BoomSmilie_anim

Well put Joos,but it seems i will have to invest in a solar geyser,to at least have a shower before work,or risk having a head injury early in the morning at about 03h30,now would you be so kind as to change the hours you switch off the booster pump from 06h00 to 09h00 and see what happens... er any body in the solar business out there? THAT IS FOR A NICE SOLAR GEYSER....
