Well I guess it had to happen sooner than later.

Yesterday a customer at Spar had her Bag/Purse stolen from out of her locked vehicle.

Out of all the Taxi Drivers and individuals hanging around the parking area, nobody saw a thing.

According to sources in law enforcement circles this is the third reported case whereby the criminal uses a garage door remote to "JAM" your signal when locking your car.

An individual was spotted slinking around yesterday afternoon, but one cannot pass judgements without facts.

In response to this matter, Oranjemund Spar will be installing security camera's on the outside of the building to "record/monitor" the car park and surroundings.

We did approach the local law enforcement and suggested that they use the opportunity to promote "visible" policing by sending one of the many many many police recruits down to the CDB of town to do foot patrols..... but this suggestion was not met with a positive response...

Once again, one can only wonder what will befall our "innocent" community once the powers that be manage to get the gates of our unique settlement open.......!

On a side note, I was talking to my workers about the town opening, the vast majority were not in favour.... and I mean the vast majority.... I said it from day one many years back, a referendum on the matter should have been held with a Yes vote of 60% securing the mandate to opening the town for all....... from what I hear from Oranjemunders of all groups is that they would vote overwhelmingly NO!

But I guess that ship has sailed..... let's prepare ourselves to join the "real" world.....
