Union Wanting to Strike!

I love the way Riaan put this, by the end of this week, workers will have lost 4% of their annual salary... we discussed the exact scenario in the office a few days back.......

For what it's worth, local business are already starting to feel the effect of the strike......

From a personal opinion, I think a lot of Unions in Africa are past their sell by dates, I could fully understand if the mine had offered a 3% salary increase, but in the current environment, the offer on the table is a good one...

I also would agree to a three year deal, mines this size do not operate on a  plan worked out for a 12 month period but on long term planning running into five years at a time........ having a strike every year just disrupts this planning....

Hopefully sanity prevails soon..... before people start to suffer.....
