Anybody out there remember the "dental milk" we used to get at break times? Had to line up on the netball courts to get our milk before we could go off and play...........

Our high school injections in std 5.......afterwards the guys would go around punching everybody on their injection spot - sadistic bunch!!!.........

Barnies on the rugby field after school ...........normally between an Afrikaner and a Soutie?

Jumping into the school pool fully clothed on the last day of std 5...................

Bruce the golden Labarador that used to follow Kevin Laubscher around - the only dog allowed at the sports days and at school itself - would lie at his feet in assembly and in our class.

I remember the milk, you had to drink it, no choice, it had fluoride in it or something.... came in little plastic containers with the lids.... Was'nt that  Kevin laubscher a good sportsman?

that's the milk i'm talking about - we totally blew the whole objective of it all by bringing nesquick, etc. to put in it - sugar deluxe - probably cancelled out any goodness it was supposed to provide.  yah, that's the same kevin laubscher - i know after we left std 5 in '77 his long jump record stood for many years after that. him and his brother phillip were also excellent soccer players, kevin was also good at rugby - total all rounder.

can you recall doing 'skollie patrollie" ( scholar patrol) wearing those stupid orange bibs and hats. we would often try to stop all the cars that were going fast
of course i am in shape...i'm round

Michael Alexander

Gee Darryl, I thought you found those outfits attractive, used them to try and pick up a few girls now and then did'nt you?

Remember Mr Bergh - he had this pipe thing that he used to hit us on the hands with.

Hey, I drive past the skollie-patrolie every morning and lunchtime. Can't believe I used to do that job and thought it was so great back then!

remember the round-abouts in sub a as many people on it as possible and then two or three would be in the midddle pushing and everybody would be chanting 'go baby go '
of course i am in shape...i'm round

Michele Alexander (Voden)

Nope, you were a year ahead of me. I do remember having roundabouts there though - not sure when they were removed as they are no longer there - only a couple of jungle gyms and see-saws.

Who remembers running cross country through the desert and past the lodge? The kids still run the same route!

Std 1 - Miss Pienaar
Std 2 - Miss Burgess
Std 3 - Mrs Coffin
Std 4 - Miss C Smit
Std 5 - Miss C Smit
Mr Venter was the Principal and Mr Dickenson the Deputy
Mr Steyn used to teach us joined up writing very precisely - light strokes up, dark strokes down

bobbysmith

mrs castle ruled the class, got youre writing wrong and a swift klap on the back of youre legs resulted, shit it hurt,if you showed no pain she would nip youre hair stubbs and try to lift you off the floor,in todays world ,you would get done for child abuse, them days it was normal, the whole word mite benefit from those practices, can anyone remember mrs castle bubble car, lite blue in colour, the whole roof lifted off to get out,i think it was a meshersmit,ha ha.i tried to piss in her petrol tank and she must of just filled it,low and behold,i jumped about holding my you know whats for an age, memories,if i wrote a book ,no one would believe it realy happend, take care all x

When my teacher was Mrs Castle I had the pleasure of sharing the desk/table with her son, Philip.  That could be a bit scarey!  Poor lad, she had even higher standards for him

Does anyone remember marble season?  And going to get your injections in std5 - then getting punched on the arm after it.
