Sheena, if ever i get up that way, i'll stop in at your mom.  would be great to see her again.  driving home last night, i was thinking how awesome it would be if me, you, jackie, paula, anne & natasha could get together - imagine the trip down memory lane we could take!!  as i said to nicky, what one remembers, others have forgotten.  natasha made contact with me thru my mom about 10 years ago and said she was coming thru to table view to see her aunt who owns a guesthouse there - she never arrived and haven't heard from her since.  she was living in wellington then.  talking of photos - remember how shaun (tasha's boet) used to drive us around in his bakkie with us all in the back - one sunday coming back from the beach, he decided to stop and pick a rose for jackie (i think he had the hots for her) and stopped at the bed of roses outside the main office block - i've got a photo of him and paula picking the company roses.

do you know what ever happened to tony & john vogel?

Hey Delia,

I had forgotten about " The Pin Gang ", but clearly remember it now. All these things seem strange to us now, but at the time it was "cool ". It must have been something they put in our dental milk !!!
Thanks for jogging my memory with regards to the Jackie Wilson incident also. I am pretty sure that it was Mr.Esterhuizen . Sad to hear about Phillip Laubscher. Was he ill, or was it an accident? Any idea what happened to Kevin or Mark? I was really glad to hear that Ann and Andre are well and still happy. Yes, Ann was an awesome chick..... A very warm and genuine gal. What happened to her sisters Marie and Caroline? Did her folks Eddie and Nina go back to the UK?

Did you get married to an Oranjemunder? Anyone we may remember? Sorry it didn't work out. You do however seem happy and content, with your life ....... Good stuff !! I bet your'e a great Mom. I would love to see some photo's. If you don't want to post them on the forum, you could send them to my email address. Now that you mention it, I am a little anxious about seeing any old photo's. I looked like a real Dork ........ Beatles hair cut and all !!!!

What was Sheena's last name back in those days? I can remember Natasha's brother with his white bakkie, always chockers. I think most guys around Jackies' age had the hots for her ....... Me included ....... Shit, this sounds like "True Confessions". She always hung with the older '' cooler " guys, so the likes of me never stood a chance. LOL. Interesting that she now lives in Kleinzee. Is she still married to Noddy? How is Paula, ( I thought she ended up with Noel Gottsch ),and what happened to Julie and Greg Vice?

I last saw John Vogel in Hamilton, New Zealand, in about 1987. He came to visit us after we had just arrived there. He introduced his then pregnant girlfriend to us. She seemed like a very nice girl.
At the time, Tony and his sister were living in Auckland. I have had no contact since then. Do you remember the MacPhearsons? They used to drive those old fashioned Citroen cars? I wonder what happened to them. I have often wondered where Patrick McCarthy ended up also. I was good mates with him for a long time.

I will keep on racking my brains and try to unearth some more distant memories that I may have hidden away in these old vaults ....... Stay tuned.

Sheena

Hi Delia,  we should arrange a reunion in Oranjemund.  That would be fun!!

Nicky, my last name was Joubert and I was an extremely quiet and well behaved little girl!!

Ok, news on all the questions.  Shaun and Irene le Roux are in Kleinzee and still happily married.  They have 2 sons and a daughter.
Natasha seems to have fallen off the radar.  My mom saw her in Wellington last year and said that she had gotten very old.
Paula and Noël are still married and have 3 sons.  Jackie and Noddy are still married and have 2 daughters.
I have been married for 20 years and we have got a son and a daughter.
We have still got a few "old"  Oranjemunders in town and it is great to get together and chat about "old times".

Nicky , don't believe a word Sheena's telling you, she has a permanent seat at the Bowling Club bar, always pissed and trying to pick up younger guys when her hubby ain't watching......!

Sheena

Mike, wait until I walk into Spar!!
Won't deny the permanent seat at the bowling club.  It is extremely comfortable.  I seem to remember that you also find some of the seat comfortable on some occassions!!  Sure Michelle will back me here.
As for the younger men - shame they just can't help themselves!!  I think Gavin is still scared off me after all these years.  He seems to remember me chasing him with a knife when he was small.
Poor guy must have some issues with knives!!

Michele Alexander (Voden)

What - Sheene pissed? Younger guys? Never!!!!!!!
She is the perfect role model!

PS

(Save me a seat Sheena!)

Should I be worried about the bowling club influence on my folks???

Sheena

MIchelle, nothing to worry about.  I am the perfect lady!!
Will save you a seat next to me.

to you guys wondering what ever happened to chris mcpherson - he's living in the table view area - he has 2 daughters and his older daughter (must be about 11/12) does modelling with my daughter at figures modelling agency and every 2 months they have a show/competition to let us parents see how they're getting on - so of course i always see him then.  to me he's still the same old chris that we all know.  he's working for quality beverages (they make the jive cooldrinks).  his mom passed away a while back. he himself was quite ill as well a while back - something to do with his heart, almost didn't make it.

sheena, ha - okay, we won't go down memory lane in toooo much detail here if you don't want to blow your cover, girl! we'll reserve those details only for those in the know!!!!! you had to be there!  i think you and paula must load the car, stop by in kleinzee to fetch jackie and make your way down here for that reunion - don't forget the photos!

Nicky, as far as i know Julie & Greg are also in the UK.  Not sure where Marie & Carolyn Jones are now - after I left school, they were both still in o'mund for a while.  no, i didn't marry anyone you know, he was from cape town but yes i'm very happy now - my daughter and i have a great relationship, very close and of course headbut like all moms and teenage daughters but at the end of the day, it's all good. she keeps me busy busy busy - very into her sports - does soccer, softball and surfing - so with all that and her modelling, never a dull moment.

Phillip Laubscher - apparently his death was due to his pancreas packing in or something.  at the time he was living in durbanville on a smallholding working for rainbow chickens.  kevin i think is still in cullinan, married - got his blaster's certficiate a while back.  saw markie a few years ago - not in a good way - life just getting him down - it was quite sad to see such an old friend going thru a hard time - haven't heard from him since.

it's actually quite weird how i came to anne that xmas - andre's cousin is married to my cousin so with all the families from each corner gathered for xmas, there was anne.  magic seeing her again.  at the time they were living in durbanville, not sure if they're still there.

likewise, if i unearth any more info & memories, will let you know.  have magic weekend!

Thanks to Delia, Sheena and Sandy for the input on the whereabouts and fate of all the people I have asked about. If you could say a big hello to Chris MacPherson the next time you see him Delia, that would be great. I still have memories of him on one of those ( Help My Trap ) bikes ( It may have been a 50cc). They were also full on into the horse riding scene. I can also recall the leather belts and other accessories he used to fabricate. Good to hear about the surviving Laubschers too. Shame about Mark ....... I hope he gets it together.

Hey Mike, that stuff you mentioned about Sheena, it's all falling into place now ....... Sounds just like the Sheena Joubert  I remember ........ He He, Moenie Worrie Nie, Sheena, I do remember you, and it is for all the right reasons. I remember you pretty much the way you described yourself back then. A responsible young lady. (Maybe Delia has a better memory than I, or was more privy to the goings on). I remember your Mom also. Did you end up marrying an Oranjemunder? Have you been living in O/mund all this time?
Have a choice weekend all !!

Michael Alexander

Nicky, Sheena is still living here, we're trying to get her to leave, we often offered her money and free groceries at Spar, but she just won't go, reckons she won't have any luck with the younger men on the outside, she knows the local boy's here are desperate..... hahahaha!  ;)

ps.... I'll have to hide from her now when she comes to the shop, I'm not scared of her, really!

Gee Mike,

I would be careful with comments like that ...... Remember, Sheena chases people with knives ......   We don't want you featured on " Lost Diamonds" just yet !!! He He. I hope Spar has some good hiding spots? ........
