I remember the neighbour of the Dooris family was Bossie Bosman, the traffic cop....

Hi Michael

Thanks for that - I found the picture earlier when I was going through your website. I rang my mum to tell her of all the pictures, and she mentioned yourselves, the mcmanus's, and many others. She isn't the best on computers, but is getting there! - I will make sure she finds her way around the site and registers.
She is back in Ireland and doing well.
She is going to dig out some more pics and get them uploaded.

It's a shame I didn't find this site before my dad passed on - I'm sure he would have loved to have caught up with many of the people he knew.

Of all the places they lived, Oranjemund is the place that is talked about so fondly, and mum still talks about it to this day. Good memories...

I don't remember the car crash incident with Karl & Lenin (Of which Lenin was the driver!), but it is a well told story that our neighbour just happended to be a traffic policeman!  msn emoticon (68)

Hey Galy. thanks for that..... Yep, my dad also needs to be dragged to the PC sometime.... it's easy for him just to phone me to send emails here there and everywhere....

A group of ex Oranjemund Scots got together in Glasgow a few months back, a few have been back to Omund for a visit......

You will see Rhona McManus is very active on this site...... be careful of her...she comes in pissed most nights, hehehehe!

My father was chuffed to hear that you guys have made contact with us all again..... an incentive for him to get online sometime.......

I had nothing to do with the car story, I think paul knew more about it.... I remember turning all the lights off in the hallways in your house and closing all the doors, whilst the adults had a braai outside, then we would all play ghost in the dark....  Was;'nt there a pondok in th eback garden? I remember all those young pine type trees along the fence in the front.... they are still there, will take a snap on my next dog walk....

First and formost I was truley sorry to hear about your dad; I have very fond memories of him as indeed I have of the rest of you guys  bighug ...........the braais at your house and uhm! I don't think I was involved in ripping you off wee Galy  sorriso2

Paul Alexander

Galy!!!!, Welcome on board, only got round to reading the updates today, been somehwat busy... Yes, somewhere deep inside I've always felt pangs of guilt for ripping off 4 year olds, but fortunately I've managed to supress them, I've got to mention that its getting harder to rip 4 year olds off these days, proof yet again the the levels of learning has increased, I'm going to havve to direct my scam toward the 2 year olds soon!!!!

S'funny how as a youngster you interpret things phonetically... (with the Oirish accent and all) I remember your name as Gilly, your mom as Moira and Shammy as Sammy... I'm just puzzled that you weren't called Trotsky or Tolstoy or something like that (I guess that by the time you were born you folks had embraced capitalism  cheerup )...

All the best

Rhona

Oh Paul.......pulleeeeeeeeeez! Even with the Irish accent Galy and Gilly are pronounced differently......
