Bill Williams was a linesman working out of North Electrical Construction,I knew him very well a great person always cheerful. His partner, as there were two line crews was Koos Liepenberg he retired around 1971, I think, Koos didnt drink so for his retirement party we organized a Cheese and wine party for him at the Rec Club , to try and have some decorum-------Turned out to be the biggest piss up I ever witnessed in Omund. So much for a cultural experience !!!!!

Michael Alexander

Did Koos become a drinker thereafter?

No I think after seeing a spectical like that,it probably firmed up his commitment to sobriety. If I ever visit I will fill you in on the gory details. It would take a small novel for that accounting.

LOL- only remembered her as "Juffy". Not sure I rebember the sholder pinch. I did not like the ruler she carried around much though, used to slap you on the knuckles.
I always remember her speaking in africaans, you had to learn quickly that way. Just before we left I think she had a heart attack, or was it Mr Williams? Would have been 90or 91?

I think the ruler (knuckles) was Mrs Castle, in Sub A or Std 1 had to hold our hands in front of the desk she would smack them if you got the question wrong.

I have been scared for life, if I see a ruler I run like hell if I saw Mrs Castle maybe I would run.........................far away if she was holding the ruler

LOL

Phew, what memories do you bring here now. I remember Bill very well doing the lines at construction with Johnny Rall and co. Thanks for the photos and memories.
