I just spoke to Mrs William's sister in law yesterday.  Told me that Norman - Mrs William's son - is also a farmer here in the Kalahari region near Van Zylsrus.  Gonna get his number from her and contact him to tell about this forum and the reunion.  Also gonna try to get Marlene's no from him.

According to aunty Emma, Mrs Williams and uncle Bill are still both doing fine and going strong.  (Maybe she still excercises that severe shoulder pinch/twist - keeps them both running.  Always used to say "kaaatjieee" when she got hold of u........  )
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of other cannot keep it from themselves.

i know -

Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know

:-)  Oh I remember "Juffie"  grab
She use to live up the street from me.  I had her for Afrikaans in Standard 5.  Infact I think she was reading us a book, just cannot remember the name.  I also do remember that shoulder pinch thingy she use to do.  Especially if she asked you a question and she would come and stand next to your desk and do that.  But in fact deep down she was a wonderful person and after I left Oranjemund I still wrote to her a few times.  If anyone speaks to her, please send her all my love....
Don't sweat the small shit!

Michael Alexander

The book she was reading was that story about the dog, Blitz or something to that affect.... (Maybe Blaze)

LOL- only remembered her as "Juffy". Not sure I rebember the sholder pinch. I did not like the ruler she carried around much though, used to slap you on the knuckles.
I always remember her speaking in africaans, you had to learn quickly that way. Just before we left I think she had a heart attack, or was it Mr Williams? Would have been 90or 91?

Bertie Horak

Wow, what memories!  I remember her too well.  That pinch must have been felt by generations!

It seems to have worked though.
I had always thought it was "Lieffie", is that just an english translation?

Michael Alexander

With that pinch of hers, she could have been a vulcan from Star Trek.....
