Hi Diana
How r u? Yvette here, yes that must Benny Wilson, his daughters Julie, Jackie and Paula, see Paula is a member on site too. Married to Noel Gottsch and living in Omund I believe. They also have a brother, Gary.
Keep well, happy memories.
Yvette
I think one or two of the Wilson sisters are in the Log Cabin party photographs?
Benny Wilson was he the one who always had that brown grens vegter hat on and who thought he was John Travolta whwn he danced?
Another Omund character!
Richard 8)
Didn't he accidentally shoot himself in the leg once??
Yes Richard thats who I'm talking about.Have to smile,he did try and dance like John Travolta. Don't recall him being shot in the leg perhaps he was and thats why he didn't get John Travolta right.
Tee Hee Diana
That's really lame.
Of course Debs,if you'd been shot in the leg you could be LAME. Never mind the FAUNA and FLORA we can have a play on body parts. Say's EYE TONGUE in CHEEK let me say bye before EYE get NAILed.
yes he did shoot himself.
I remember his red and black beach bugy - he used to take us for a drive - scared the life out of me.
Quite right Claire just spoke to my aunt. Benny did accidently shoot himself in the foot.My mom and aunt are good friends of Benny and Auriel. As Richard said another great Oranjemund character..
nought like slinging the lead, did the buck stop there, shell he be ok,i thunder, hope he is not shell shocked, mite have to take him to the horsepital for some oikment, god forbid we have to take him to the hosspice, how much does a hosspice, about two gallons mam.x
Benny Wilson did the BEST version of "Oh, Lord it's Hard to be Humble".
It was of course for Mrs O.
Benny sung the song, gazing into her eyes, on one knee and whilst holding her hand.
Mrs "O" at the time could not complain too much as she was wearing a pair of the white welly boots worn by the chefs - provided at the time by wee Roy Fields.
Okay I HEAR you Diane, a thread with BODY, how ORGANically CELEBRAL.
What can EYE say about Benny, in this VEIN. He often took a SKINful and was the BACKBONE of many a party.
oh Barbara EYE SEE EYE've been NAILed.This is VIRGIN territory for EYE.It will do me no hARM to lEARn to deLIVER who NOSE what may transpire

Luckily the underground strike was HUMERUS as it was canCELLed.
Hello to you all,
Yep, I'm afraid so, that's Benny Willson. The disco dancer, the cowboy, the country and western singer and the list goes on.......
Mom and Dad came back to the UK about 18 mnths after Greg and I moved back in 2001.
He's well and all though the minds still very young the bodies starting to feel the abuse of younger years, shooting himself in the leg and breaking his hip while doing the John thing on a table at the Moth club. He's seen the site so best I help him register and he'll be able to Hi.
On a sader note, my mom's just been diagnosed with lung cancer and treatment is not an option. Jackie and Paula are here with us at the moment, painfully sad for us all right now.
Jackie, Paula and I will pop in this evening and catch up on some chin wag (chat). Cheers for now Julie
Are you talkin about Paula that still lives here in Oranjemund.....? I thought it went a bit quiet here in the store, nobody complaining and nagging and then begging me for some Hams..... ;)
Glad to see you onboard and sterkte to your Mum......
I remember one of Benny's daughters used to work in the bank - She was telling us a story , "she was dealing with a customer, she turned to count out the ladies money and when she turned around again , the lady had gone."
Now picture the scene – very high bank counter and the teller could not see the other side.
It turned out that the Lady had fainted and was lying on the floor. Bennys daughter felt awfull when the woman reappeared and told her that she was lying on the floor on the other side of the counter.
Funny how things stick in you mind.
Can't remember a thing I was taught in school , but always remembered that story
Hi there Julie, you may not remember me, but your folks are good friends of my Uncle Archie and Inge (Yzerfontein) also my parents. We are so sorry to hear about your mom and are thinking of her. Tell your dad he can make contact with Archie via my email.
Wilson family, hello from Barbara, always remember you for letting me stay when my dad went to CT for operation, Benny drew a picture of a dragon for some homework I had to do. Thanks again it was the best picture. in the whole class.
Gary and Jackie of course hopefully have some memories of me from those days.
I wish you all the best and lots of strength to manage the ordeal you are all faced with. Love and prayers always(I'm in Southampton.)
::) Hey Mike don't think I'm not keeping my bladdy eyes peeled on you!!!
When I do get back to town guess who I'll be coming to slap!!hehe
Oh, and you better have my "Hams" ready at a discount due to all my traveling expenses.
I'm also glad to hear you are missing me already in the Spar, and is there any stock that you lot are short of that I can send over. hadeha
got to go so slap you later :) Paula
Shit! There goes my weekend now, Thanks for ruining it Paula....thought I was gonna have a Paula free week, I'll just get your sidekick Sheena to insult me, then everything will feel like norm....
Hehehehe ;)
Hi Paula
so nice to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your Mom. We must get in touch, lots to skinner about. Paarl especially. love to all
Yvette
Hi Paula,
Glad to see you arrived in UK. All seems well on this side. Mike is just getting out of hand. Will have to go to Spar today and slap him on your behalf.
How is your mother? Please send my love to your parents, Jackie and Julie. I'll keep the home fires burning on this side!!!
Missing you.
Cheers
Sheena
Hi Sheena
Good luck if you are hoping to find Mike in Spar today, you and Paula must have "virtually" slapped him as he is at home suffering from gout. Shame!
Hi Paula
Glad to see you still have your sense of humour! Thinking of you all!
Love from
Michele
Gout, to much red wine,my father used to say :-*
mike, eat cherries, natural remedy for gout, another remedy ,chainsaw, dont go there boeti promise the cherries in any form will work,it has for me,ha ha
Hello all the Wilsons.
Sorry to hear about your Mom - she'll be in our prayers. Remember your Dad fondly.
Love to you all
Patricia
Mike
sorry to hear about your gout, the condition of over indulgant gentleman. Ha, no seriously I believe it is painful, take care,
...and to think I sacrificed beer this past weekend, all in vain I guess.... I know I'll have to stop the biltong and droe wors.... not so easy during a world cup year!
;D
Julie/Jackie/Paula - so sorry to hear about your mom. Please send her my love and you're all in my thoughts. Your home (among sheena's & natasha's) was like a second home to me in our junior school years. I have fond memories of your mom and dad. Do you guys remember the morning we took your dad breakfast (cereal) in bed and as we gave it to him we noticed weavils in the cereal. When we wanted to take it back, Bennie's take on it was "so what, more protein" and ate the cereal weavils and all :D
I also remember very clearly having supper at your house the day my dad died (it was a Sunday) - we were all sitting in one of the bedrooms, plates of braai on our lap - everyone was so quiet not knowing what to say to me. can't remember exactly how come I landed up at your place that night but with hindsight now my mom probably felt it best to be with my friends while she tried to process the shock of it all.
Hey Mike, don't talk sh*t about having so called "gout" you are lekker bang that Sheena or myself gets hold of you and slaps you silly, now you're hiding out at home but we know were you live!!! BE SCARED!BE VERY VERY SCARED!! (SHEENA GO GET HIM AT HOME!!..TEHE)
Thanks to everyone for all your thoughts and prays. We are all still hanging in there even if we look like a bunch of monkeys. My mom will be having a biopsy on the tumor in her lung tomorrow moring at 9:30am (we are an hour behind you guys that side).
Delia, yes we remember that night too. Do you also still remember the night we all went to the town swimming pool for a dip and then security came and we all ran away to hide and they followed us by the wet footprint to behind the toilets at the old cafe. Then you put your pants back on at the pool and there was a bat inside them and you just about sh*t yourself when it started to crawl around inside your pants..hahaha
Yvette thanks for your note, what skinner do you have on Paarl, I hear that schools name has now changed. Flip that school only sucked, was glad to get out of there!
Michele thanks for keeping us updated on Mikes where abouts so we can find him..hahahahaha...if he leaves town let us know!
got to go now, got a early morning tomorrow.
lovies to all
Paula,Julie and Jackie
:D
Hey J/J/P - will be thinking of your mom at 09h30 - Aunty Auriel, what a honey-bun!
I remember the night of our skinny dip very well - felt like such a dork when the security guys found us by simply following our wet footprints, but don't remember the bat in the pants story - s..t, probably scared the memory right outa me.
julie, have been in contact with ivan - the last of the mohicans still standing! lotsa reminiscing there when he comes down to ct in jan - has promised to pop in for a visit. say hello to greg for me. i still have the video your dad made of us all at my 21st spit braai at your place (1985), watch it occassionally - fanie smit still made up the marinade for us and greg did the honours of spiking the sheep all day with this mysterious conconction - "genuine african ganja" he still called it. jackie, vernette's (± 2 yrs old) on the video dragging around a leg of the sheep with the dogs hot on her heels - no ways was she letting go of that braaied leg :D
cheers, all the best xoxox
Hi Willsons (well Cloete, Vice and Gottsch)
I hope all goes well today. You are all in our thoughts.
Paula, went to find Mike yesterday, but no sign of him. I think Michelle is hiding him somewhere.
Be good and speak to you soon.
Mikes sitting at home with gout again, anyway I'm not that that that that scared of you...!
:'(
Hi All
My mom's biopsy went off well this morning and she is doing as well as can be expected.
Jackie and I (sheena note the "I" haha) had a laugh, we got my mom a balloon with "To cheer you" printed on it to tie onto her bed and tomorrow I think i will be getting her one that reads "Congradulations, its a girl" printed on it, that should confuse all the doctors that visits her bedside...hahaha
(we have to laugh or we will be taking prozac by the bottle fulls so we try to intertain ourselves)
Shame, there are a few old ladies in my moms ward and they don't always have visiters so Jackie and I do the rounds when we are there and now know everyones problems. There is a bat of a cleaning cow there that gives us all trouble and likes to think she is the boss but we soon put her in her place and we have now named her "Happiness Is".
We will be trying out the bus transport to the hospital tomorrow so if you don't hear from us send out the search party.
Julie is having a laugh at my expense as the damn coins here don't have numbers on them so I am just useing the notes at the moment and give Julie the coins cos I don't know what the hell they are.
We have told my dad about how many hits his site has had and he is very impressed and all that know him "Oh Lord it's hard to be humble"..(bless him)(luv ya Dad!)
Say hi to all and Mick you are still on the hit list!! tehe

;D
Hey Paula you're becoming quite violent in you're old age. :-* Now let Jackie say hi to all otherwise she's going to feel left out again ;D Its so great having you both here, love you both lot and lot of jelly tots xx
Hi Dee, remember when you lived with Greg and I and the two of you use to make trifle?
Julie
Paula, whos feeding the mine whilst you are having a holiday with your old lady in the hospital, hope there's a pub in that hospital..... ;)
Hiya
I think that lot are getting fed or there would be a strike going on in Ormd right now with that lot, a bit like the Spar when there ain't stock on the shelves...hahaha
Hey Mike if you hear anything about the Sodexho contract you must let me know because as I'm out here on "holiday" we are waiting to hear who got the contract so I might not even have a job when I get back to Ormd, hey, do you maybe have a job for me..hehe..then I could slap you everyday. hahaha
Mom will hopefully be getting out of hospital on monday. Me and Jackie went on the bus to the hospital today but only after missing the first bus and having to wait for the next one but it was only for 20min.
:)
20 minutes for a bus in the 1st world, gee out here in remote africa, in Oranjemund, in the desert, you only have to wait 15 minutes and then the Shift bus comes pass...... hehehehe!
Eddie should know now about that contract.... I saw him in the store, he looked happpy, but we did'nt talk, I'll find out for you though........
8)
I didn't mind going on the bus this side it smelt clean and was!!
Thanks for finding out the info for me. will keep my eyes peeled for it.
:)
Sterkte vir jou ma! (or did you forget) ;)
Huh, what do you mean or has the gout gone to your head now
???
Nope, but talking of gout, I had enough suffering this week and went to the hospital at 19h00 tonight, got a moerofa lekker injection and know I think I'm on a buzz..... I need to start a petition to get Michele to allow me to have a few dops this weekend, :-\
Well Julie, Jackie and I will sign the petition for you, don't want you getting all cranky and use all the hospitals meds up.
Say: NO TO DRUGS AND YES TO DOP!!!" haha
:o
Don't tell me! Tell me missus! :o
Hey missus, let Mike drink, he likes it!
;D
Julie - i remember mine & greg's trifle making days (or should I say nights) - more sherry went down our throats than in the trifle. I seem to remember you giving up on us and just going off to bed leaving us to concoct our potent pudding. I also remember how he used to love doing the Fair Lady crossword puzzles with me :D There we'd be sitting at the kitchen table desperately trying to finish the crosswords while very pissed.
I remember the time Greg, Alan Taylor and myself came down to Cape Town in your little gold Mini - how the 3 of us fitted in there luggage and all, I'll never know. None of us are exactly short, small people. One night in CT the 3 of us went out and when we stopped outside the place in main road Sea Point, Alan had the ghetto blaster in one hand and something else in the other hand with the intention of putting it all in the boot. As he was standing there hands full, Greg came up behind him and pressed the play button - all you heard was Chris Rea at full ball echoing down the main road of Sea Point - Alan got such a fright he just stood there for a few seconds before realising what was going on. Greg and I were practically rolling down the road with laughter :D
Okay, time for Mike's missus to explain about the Alexander men and alcohol - bear with me!
Wed morning, Mike is still at home with gout, I am trying to print out payslips for Spar's payroll but my printer keeps jamming, whilst I am busy moving printers around Mike's dad Jock phones to see if I can take him to the hospital because he is not feeling well. Mike can't drive, Jock thinks Paul is still off sick and Stephen is out on the mine. Whilst Jock gets ready to go to the hospital - which takes an hour - I manage to finish salaries. Go and fetch Jock and head off to the hospital. Turns out Jock had fallen over the cat after a couple of whiskeys, hurt himself and was feeling dizzy.
4 hours later Jock has eventually see the doctor, had to wait to have an x-ray taken, wait to see the doctor again, wait to get his medication and wait to get an injection. Unlike Noel and David - who seemed to enjoy hanging out at the hospital talking shit (what is it with the Gotsch's and hospitals?) I still had to run around picking our eldest up from school, taking her home and back to daycare then an hour later pick up our youngest from daycare, drop her at dancing, rush to Spar and try and catch up on some work, back to dancing to take the youngest back to daycare, and drop Jock back at home again.
In between all this Mike is wondering why I don't reply to his email - he takes the phone off the hook and switches his cellphone off so I can't phone him!
Back at Spar I do Jock's shopping for him then go and fetch the girls from daycare. On my way out of Spar I meet Wayne Handley, an old O'munder now resident in Rosh Pinah who comes and stays with us now and again - I think to myself I'm going to have to wash the bedding quickly if he is staying over because Cameron slept in the spare room last night - luckily he is only passing through. It is Stephen's daughters birthday so have to drop her birthday present off, the petrol light has come on so have to go and put petrol in, drop Jock's shopping off for him and eventually head home. Mike offers to do homework with our eldest but turns out he has no idea how to do maths anymore and can't pronounce her afrikaans words for her spelling test!
All in a day's work you might say but I think I'm the one who should be drinking and watching the rugby this week-end whilst Mike sorts everything else out!
And the answer is no Mike, you cannot get an Alsation puppy!
Am I getting any sympathy here?
HEER HEER - you tell him Michelle.
Another mouth to feed and another arse to wipe.
BITE ME - would have been my reply to that one.
I really wanted to reply to this post, but if I want to get gout again, I better just shut up!
:(
Yes Michelle, you have all my sympathy. I'm sure tons of us can relate. Time to run away from home. You should try it! good for the soul! Sorry Mike, I can be a bad influence!
Yvette
Michele you have my sympathy, I withdraw my name from the pertition and I'm sending a few "slaps" via Paula to the Alexander men. ;)
Julie
Not a lot has changed Dee. Greg still experiments in the kitchen with 27 rums under his belt..... a while ago he was into cafe latte, my kitchen was often re painted with fresh cream and you're right, a bottle of sherry didn't stand a chance with you and Greg. Some in the trifle, straight into the jugular vein and than Greg would try and flambé the fruit and nearly burnt the house to the ground :D
Talking about Alan Taylor, I remember all four of us going out, getting wreaked and bringing Alan back to O'mund. He couldn't get back to CT and missed one or two exams that week. We dumped him off with Ivan Booker, who was none too pleased. Looking back now I wouldn't change a thing about my time in O'mund, the good the bad or the ugly
Catch you later, love too you're mom and the rest of the family
Julie
Julie - I'd forgotten about that time we brought Alan back to o'mund after our night out but as i read about it, it came back to me. Yah, Ivan wasn't amused at all to be left with sorting out the problem of getting Alan back to CT. ;D Did you see in an earlier posting to you - i've made contact with Ivy - great to catch up with him. He's promised to pop in when next in Cape Town (Jan/Feb) for a reminiscing session. Alan's living in Jo'burg, all his business is up that way; Dennis Barry's retired to Mossel Bay!!! Say no more.........
I seem to recall us going thru a stage of always getting the dice out every time we came home from sportsmans, playing 21's, etc into the wee hours of the morning. I have a blurry picture in my head of us sitting at the kitchen table throwing the dice with the wine bottles not too far away? Didn't we then progress to the lounge for more comfort and variations of the game ;).........all these hazy memories, lost in time........and space........
Why's Greg so quiet on the forum?
Paula, spoke to Eddie, they will only know next week about the contract, he does'nt seem to remember you, although it is Friday for him..... hehehehhe! :D
Hi Michele/Mike
You have my sympathy but I can't withdraw my signature yet from the pertition, I still need Mike to give me the info on our contract when he gets it, after that it will be a different story ok..hahahaha...your home stories sound a lot like mine and I've got all men in my house, need I say more!
Jock should get rid of the cat, it seems to be a hazard to his health...hahaha
Mike thanks for the info and keep me updated if and when you hear anything, won't it be a laugh if you get all settled for the games on TV the weekend (gout and all) and the power goes out...hahaha
later dude
Paula
:o
Hi Paula - I couldn't be bothered to log out of Mike's name and log in on my name - so this is Michele typing this post!
This is the 2nd time that Jock has tripped over the cat - the 1st was on Christmas Eve 2005, he'd spent a pleasant evening at our place, gone home and had a couple of whiskies only to phone us in the early hours of the morning to ask Mike to take him to the hospital as he'd tripped over the cat and fallen through his glass door!
Be good and try not to slap anyone tonight! Hope you'll be shouting for Tonga, ha ha ha!
Hi Paula,
Hope all is well on your side. Saw Noël this weekend for a couple of minutes at the club - reminded me of aunty Marie....
Well, onto some news you will enjoy. I have decided to go to New Zealand in Jan 2008 - Lady Di has withdrawn (and her sidekick) so, I decided I will go. Thought you would enjoy that!!!
How is your mother and is she out of hospital yet?
Enjoy and let me know what is happening.
Lots of love,
Sheena
Hi Sheena
That don't surprise me, i think the cow is worried she might test positive for drugs...hahaha
My mom came home today so at least she is now in her own surroundings and is much more comfortable, oxygen has been organised for her at home now and all the other bits and pieces that she will need. My dad has lent me his car so as from tomorrow I will be able to drive Jackie and myself to go see my mom everyday, hey don't laugh now, yes I'm even driving here, well I drove from my dads place tonight following Julie and tomorrow we are on our own, hope I don't get us lost..hahaha..mind you it ain't to far to my moms place.
Julie wants us to come live over here and I might just do that with Noel and kids, after all Noels been through with that lot that side I'm determined to get us out of there, sooner then later.
I've run out of my smokes that I brought with me and I'm now rolling my own with Jackie and Julie, think I might even stick to rolling my own, works out a damn sight cheeper.
NOTE TO MIKE:
Please take note of my smoking habits and order me stuff to be able to roll my own smokes when I get back..haha
Say hi to all

Paula
:D
Hi Paula
Glad to hear your mom is at home now. Have to watch the smokes now!!!
God, I would love to see you driving in UK. You won't even drive in Windhoek. Wish I could see that!!
I saw Mike yesterday, but he vanished quickly. Wonder why??? Spar has still got nothing in stock - nothing new!!!
Send my love to Jackie, Julie and your folks.
Hi Paula
Why so quiet. What is up on your side??
Hope all is well.
Noel is fine. He played this weekend and seemed to enjoy it. Saw David as well - no problem there.
Cheers,
Hi Sheena
All is well as can be expected this side with mom and we are still going there daily. Noel was apparently in CT today to see the specialist and he has a reflux problem and they have given meds for that and will be keeping an eye on him.
I have been jumping around the other sites on Ormd online giving Mike shit having to look where I've been leaving messages for him hahaha
the doctors this side have now discovered that the cancer that my mom has in her lungs is not from SMOKING but from the skin cancer that was removed about two years ago on her leg.
send love to all
Paula
:D
Paula, when you coming home, can we braai at your house again like we did last weekend and ANdre' promises he will buy you a new tv for the old one that he broke......
???
No need to replace the broken TV Mike, I'll come and watch TV at your place from now on...ain't you a lucky boy, you will now have Michele and I to deal with...hahaha
Paula
:o
Hi Julie, How is your mom doing? Inge and Archie have asked after her and your dad, they were big friends here in Cape Town. All the guys from the pub and Yserfontein send their best.
Hi Diana
Thanks for passing on the message from Inge and Archie, I will make sure they get it.
Mom has her up and down days, she is not able to get out of bed now and when she does she is out of breath as if she has run a marathon. A good day for mom is her eating half a tub of yoghurt and being able to chat with us for a couple of hours during the day, most of the time we do all the talking and she listens to us, when she gets moeg she tells us to go for a smoke, then we know shes had enough of our bantering, bless her.
Paula
:)
Got to tell you all this one:
We were at my dads place today and because my mom is now having difficulty in sitting up to drink I asked him to please get mom some of the straws at the shop that bends to make it easer for her to drink, well if you all know my dad, he said, Ok, I'll just ask them at the shop for the gay straws then because they are bent...hahaha...and you all wondered where I came from...hehe
Paula
:D
Bless him! ;D
Hello, what have you come to this site to see and can I help you...hadeha

For those of you who would like to know, we had my moms service on Monday and laid moms ashes to rest on Wednesday, all went well and we would also like to thanks everyone on site for their support during this time.

Hi. I received bad news that Audry Wilson (Julie's mom) passed away recently. Is there anyone who can give me information regarding this. I wish to send my condolences to the Wilson family. Thanks
Ronelle,
Julie Vice is on this site. Jackie and Paula are visiting Bennie and Julie in England at the moment.
You can mail them. Paula is often on this site.

OH yes he was,OH yes he was.
Yet another pic I found of Benny Rocker....
