Anyone remember the cane woven cart on wheels that was used by many a resident during the 70's?  It had a handle similar to that of an umbrella and two wheels. All the shopping was packed in it and the owner tagged it along home.

The higest love of all finds it's fulfilment not in what it keeps, but in what it gives.  We may give without loving, but we cannot love without giving

They were actually quite cool, used to hook it to the side of the pram.  New born in pram,2yr old in seat ontop of the pram and the good old trolley, thats how us young moms got around.  I remember my mom having one back in the 60's.

Now don't laugh but I got one on request when Finbar was born as I considered them to be invaluable for shopping trips that didn.t involve the car.

Still have it.

The blind people make them, they are just not quite as big as they used to be, still great to have.

The last one of those wicker trolleys was to be seen in use in Oranjemund about 11 months ago, and the owner was none other than Francis Havenga, married to Ben. She even had a number plate made for the thing. They have since retired to Lamberts Bay.

I recall  some  women even  used to  hook it  to  the carrier  of  their  bicycles  when  they  went  shopping ... quite  a sight ..  kid on  carrier at  back and  trolley  trundling  behind ..  I  still  got one ...inherited ..  same  as  the  big  brown  mixing  bowls  of old  days...  ..
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

I think the older ones are antiques, or should be by now.
