Rhona, whats the longest time that you guys have gone without rain?

Now that's a tricky one..............On a good day we can have a couple of hours with no rain!!!
When we first moved to Ireland, 26 years ago, there were good stretches without rain, a couple of months at a time, but then the farmers would start to complain, people used to say they wanted rain in one field and the sun shining in the field beside it............now I think it rains almost every day.........Last summer I can't remember one dry day............this 'global warming' should be renamed 'global wetting'. At the moment, the heavens have opened and it is bucketing down.........So Mike, do you and your family fancy a trip over here, good beer.....pity I can't say the same about the weather!!

Michael Alexander

Rhona, I remember when I visited your family back in 82, I remember the village and I remember walking through a stream in a field behind your folk's house, Now one of my favourite TV programs was Ballyk.... and I always thought of you guys when I watched it.... always liked to idea of moving to a place like that..... Michele's being trying to get me to visit my Uncle this Year in Glasgow and pick up a coin collection, but I don't know at this stake.....  How many pubs were in the village?

There are 9 pubs that I can count off the top of my head...like any good town in Ireland, myself and my husband are now living in a village in Co.Cork, nice place............one small shop and 3 pubs!!! If you are ever looking for directions, people always direct you from one pub to the next, eg: turn right at such and such pub, go straight on until you come to XYZ pub etc etc.........
I remember your trip here, you came with your dad, God that seems like a lifetime ago............you are well over due a return visist..........and as for Paul and Steve........well at least you can say you made the trip once, which is more than they can say........
I think Michelle is right, you guys should come over to this side of the world.......I know you are up to your eyes organising the reunion in 2008, so I'll tell you what, I'll give you a break and only start setting the table for you in 2009, now that's plenty of notice to get your pennies and passports in order...........whatcha say???

Michael Alexander

mmmh! 2009, just around the corner, Can we go leprechaun hunting?   :emot19:  I will have a chat to head office and see hwat she says, although I have a strange feeling that by 2009 we will be leaving omund.....

We had snow here yesterday but only rain today.....dark gray all day.........I NEED SOME SUN swim

Rhona

Sure we can go leprechaun hunting, and the more you drink, the greater the chance of catching one and that crock of gold!!!
Sure when ye leave O'mund, why not pass by this way and see how we party at this side of the world? Just one thing................... please bring some sun with you.............I'm so pale at the moment, I think I've actually gone blue!!!

barb (Fry)

i know what you mean     transparent, yea

Hahaha... I caught the sun today,  first at the beach , then jumped in the portapool and then Michele and myself lay on the gardenswing in the bright sunshine next to the palm tree watching the puffy white clouds drift pass..... sigh! It's tough living in africa....

I spent 3 hours fixing up a new gate in our garden. About 4°C raining and the ground still frozen.  :natale3:

You're only teasing us now Mike, going on about the sun.............It is still raining here!!! Although on a good note, had a lock-in in the pub last night and a sing-song...........eventually escaped at 3.30am.........swear I saw a leprechaun as I crossed the road to home............

barb (Fry)

lock in, WHY.

i believe you, Rhona about the Leprechaun ?

Lock-in to get extra alcohol; after closing time; first the publican clears the pub of any excess people, and then the chosen few can drink away, so long as a couple of songs are thrown in for good measure..........nice!!! Except for those damn leprechauns.........
