What an amazing place this was once, today I was looking out the bedroom window and was looking at the various types of trees blowing in the breeze, when i was informed that the tree in our garden was a paw paw tree, which got me to thinking of the wide range of fruit tree;s that have been grown in Oranjemund, some of which are still around today.. here is my list, if I missed any add on...

1) Avo
2) paw Paw
3) Mulberry
4) Grape
5) Lemon
6) Bananna
7) Orange
8) Louqouat
9) Fig
10) Guave
...... all from the desert...

I say fruit, but what I was getting at was the variety of fruit, veg, berries etc that were/are grown in this spot of the Namib desert, people always said of Oranjemund, just plant it, water it and the sun will do the rest.....

Hey, yea I know what you mean the oasis effect during that time - condidering it was a desert, remember it's close to a river, that always makes a differance

Here in UK you plant and watch it grow, no watering needed, as for the sun, what's that.

You all forgetting about the green weed some oke's planted behind their pondoks and the fence!

(The preacher from the NG Church and myself once planted a few of those pips in the flower bedding at the steps as you enter the police station.  We loved to see our little boompies start to grow, but Big Dirk was to clever for us  -  they got to about 5cm high, when he spotted them for what they were and plucked them out - roots 'n all!)  Damn - we could have made a good profit, come to think of it now.....
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of other cannot keep it from themselves.
