it's 3.30am and i hear.............the flippin' gutter banging against my window keeping me awake - half of it blew off it's hinges leaving it hanging yesterday in the horrendous gale force which has been battering cape town over these last few days.......seems to have decided to lay low today........let's hope it stays away, can't even open windows when it howls unless you want to crunch your way thru the layer of dust and sand in your house...............i was watching a flock of pelicans on their way home for the night, even they were sukkeling against the wind, just sort of hung in there going nowhere slowly........as they say "die kaap is soos 'n baba, altyd nat en vol winde"............
:emot78:

for those of you still up there, treasure the silence of the desert my friends...........i've been in ct going on 13 years now and still cannot get used to the sirens, cars speeding at all times of night and just the general noises that come with city living. i miss those awesome silences big time.

I remember how the wind blows in Cape Town, that South Easter had my dress up around my ears in the street.

hi georg, yeah good to be back - i don't have internet at home, so i surf at work when not busy.  we were closed from 21 Dec-7 Jan so missed all the goings on in between.  good to catch up.  if memory serves me right, paula was a year below me but her sister and brother, jackie & gary, were in my class......we were all best of friends tho and spent much time at each others houses..........paula, jackie and i could write a book about all our adventures in junior school.........playing army in the trees, dancing away to Abba in the afternoons, listening to Jet Jungle at 2.30 on weekdays, etc. etc......we all stayed friends right thru high school as well, jolling together in the holidays......put it this way, i've known paula longer than Noel (her hubby) has known her............those were the days..............

hihi. Sounds like loads of fun for the youth, and the parents....? hihihi
When did you visit std 5? I'm still not sure where to put you. I always had a pic of a girl in mind, ops clothing with hat, cheeky smile, witt in your eyes and still somewhat shy. Reading all the stories on the board shows, that you changed a lot as a teenager.

i was in std 5 in 1977 - i don't quite know how to respond to your memories of me (if it is me u're thinking of) - probably need an objective view point there.........paula/sheena/jackie, where you guys? help me out? hats??? did we wear hats??? i did fall off the rails as a teenager when i went to boarding school, went on quite a rebellious trip (circumstances) doing everything to defy authority at home and at school, gave my poor mom many many gray hairs......i'll see if i can find a pic of me at junior school and post it for you to jog your memory........as long as you promise not to laugh, i'll get paula to slap you if you do..........

georg, haven't forgotten about the junior school pic of me - i just have to find out who's got the box of family photos from years gone by - either at Lance or Linda.  As soon as I get to them, will dig thru and post one for you - again, you'd better not laugh otherwise Paula will be least of your worries............

If the pic is any close to how I remember you.... I think you had the same taint as Lance.
... reddisch hair, freckels and a cheeky smile. I have to be flattered.
hihihi
Have you seen the pic of my brothers and me in "Our broods". Can't believe I looked that way once apon .... There are no more freckels in my face and I believe the lack of SA sun has made my hair darken.
