The Youth Club Bar was situated on the lawn and back steps of the Youth Club, many a youngster learned to drink in the big league there. I once drank with Paul Hall, Neil Delaney and I think Clinton Latimer.... 1 bottle whisky, 1 bottle OBS, 1 Bottle Vin Coco and a bottle of Esprite that Paul or Neil had "Borrowed" from one of the clubs.... To this day, I cannot drink OBS or Vin Coco, i remember lying on that lawn, with Jimmy Jones Laughing at me.... That day my life ended.....

i remember we used to " borrow" small quantities of all the booze my dad had in his bar . put it all into a two litre bottle and drink that at the 'bar'
of course i am in shape...i'm round

what was in the water in o'mund that made us kids get up to exactly the same thing even tho we were a couple of years apart ie. "borrowing" small amounts of the folks booze to make a liquorice allsorts - we used to raid natasha le roux's dad's booze cabinet - one night after downing this lot at the youth club, we decided to go for a skinny dip only to get caught by security - we thought we'd given them the slip by shooting over the back wall and running to hide in the toilets outside the cafe (remember as u walked out of the cafe, there was a toilet around a bend to the right) - there we were shivering in the loos and next thing we see a torchlight coming around the corner - busted!! we couldn't work out how they'd found us until they showed us how they had merely followed our wet footprints on the cement pathway to our hideaway. jees, we felt like dorks! they let us off with a warning as i'm sure they couldn't wait to get away to burst out laughing!

The drink in a two letre bottom used to be called a "spider"

Paul Alexander

Ha ha, spiders!!!! Can anyone of you imagine being able to stomach a spider now???? Bwwwaaaugh !!!! Ours was Whiskey and vodka from my mom and dad (they started marking the bottles but we saw the marks and just topped them up with water), Some brandy and gin from Warren, can't remember waht we got from Brad Peltons folks, but whatever space was left in the 2 litre bottle got topped up with wine.... I got caught coming home drunk one night (16 years old) my mom was so furious she ordered my dad to talk to me, the conversation wen't something like this:

Dad : Now son, what on earth have you been drinking
Me : A spider Dad
Did : What the F**k is a spider?
Me : Vodka, Whiskey, Wine, Gin etc. etc. etc.
Dad : Son, I'm very dissapointed in you
Me : Yes dad :(
Dad : You know you should never mix your drinks, 'it'll give you the worste hangover ever, rather just stick to whiskey and water in future, then you'll be OK
Mom (from bedroom) : Jock Alexander... what the hell are you doing!!!!!!! For gawds sake....

Paul A, remember that german potato schnapps we drank out in that bus wreck behind town garage in the dumps...... tasted like turps, found it quite strange that we made it home afterwards, in the dark nogal!

Ha ha, yes, Blommelinde or something, like that, you could ask Warren if he remembers it but I doubt it, all he remember is puking, then waking up, dressed in old overalls, on the floor at Barry's house with Cliffie Jones in his penguin suite leaning over him asking if he was OK

That was the last time any of us ever touched the stuff... (one of the photo's in your "people" collections shows Barry with his Queens college jersey on and blue overall pants on the roof of that old bus... that was taken on the same day!!!!)

And that was the night I was passed out on the garage roof, gee and the adults said there was no entertainment for the teenagers in town.....

Hahahaha!
