Around town, there were various DB box's that controlled each streets lights, I remember in particular the one down our end of town at E 1st ave....just opposite the bush's where the water lorry would go and fill up with that hanging water pipe... there was a DB box...and on the cover there was a round hole, if you put your hands over the hole, the daynight sensor would kick in and all the street lights would come on.... great fun to have such power as a kid...

They replaced all those big metal street lights with these plastic modern orang crap.... if you walked up to them and gave them a good kick, they would go out.....the trick was to see if you could kick a whole streets lights off, before the first one came back on again....

when you were stand-by with town electric in the eighties you would drive round every wednesday night checking all the street lights and marking down which lights were out.I used to take the three benton boys and they would write down the locations of all the dud lights. They thought it was great fun and i was getting paid overtime.aaah the good old days!!!!

... and now nobody checks the lights anymore.... on 5th ave outside the police station, that whole set has been out for over 2 weeks....
