I knew Wally, my mom worked with him.  We had an incident involving my dad's station wagon. Jackie and I went to close the back window while the window was only half closed.  We struggled at first and then my mom said "just slam it" which we did and the whole back window shattered, my dad was ferious and wanted to cancel our holiday which was about two days away.    The next day at work mom told Wally what had happened and with no bother he organized with Pete Spies to have a window cut from per specs.  We went on holiday and years later when we sold the car, it still had the per specs window in it.     e154

Yeah I knew Wally. He was a carpenter and worked in the carpenter shop. Had beautiful daughters Martha De Pinto and can't remember the others. Stayed down the road from us in 9th Avenue I think it was.

Oh yes,Wally De Pinto would have to be one of the nicest fellas I have ever met.I did quite a lot of work with Wally after he gave up the tools and had his office near the depot.I still have Mrs De Pinto's pickled fish recipe she gave me,I cannot get the snoek here in Queensland and have to use the mullet.
Wally and Pete Spies made an absolute classic double,I can remember one night after snooker we went and played poker at Wally's place till about 4 in the morning and had to attend a meeting in Wally's office at 8 that morning arrived on time still blind to Wally and Pete asleep !!!!!!!!

My First Effective Lesson in Carpentry.

CDM built our new house (21/11)  next to the old wooden one.

Wally was busy hanging the doors when my dad and the building foreman (and I) went to have a look at the progress.

There was Wally hammering the screws in with his big hammer.  The foreman said "Wally, what are the slits in the screws for?"  Wally answered "To take the f,,,ers out with."
