Well done .. your family is  now  complete again ... its always a case of  waiting till the appropriate time .. may  you have many happy  moments with your  latest best friend ...  I  remember last  year  in December when  my  good  friend  Allan lost  his Korki cat of  many years .. he  was  heartbroken .. so  many  people  said  to  him to look  for  a  ' replacement '   like  immedieately .. I said  .. " Allan take  no  note  of  what  they say ... a new cat  will happen  when the time is  right ".. it  has  indeed happened  so .. I  went  to visit  the  other  day and  there  was  this  magnificent  creature  resplendent  in  one  of  the garden  chairs .. upon  asking  I  was  told  that  this  magnificent  creature just arrived out of the blue .. has  been hanging  around .. testing  the  waters .. sussing  out   what it is maybe  choosing  as  its next  home ( cats  are after all  independent  creatures )  and strong feeling is  he  has  chosen allan .. dogs are a diferent story ... we choose  each  other   . a  chemistry , a different type of  bond  a  gut  feeeling .. but  Mike if  it  feels  right as  it  has  you  have gone  for  it ... i  wish  you  many  hours and  years of  friendship ...  Dollar  is  looking  at this  from  the  huge  happy  field  of  happiness  from  the  other  side  and approving , you  can  never close  your  heart  because of loss   .. last  question   .. whats  the  little    tykes  name ????

Hello there Shadow  -  your friend Mike has now introduced you to us on this forum.  You look like a happy puppy and very perky too  ..........  so small still, but your ears are already pitched straight!  Well, we all cried when Dollar moved on to happier grounds, but I think we are all just as tearfull now for your arrival  -  the happiness it brings.

I am sure you will have a very good life with the Alexander tribe (though Mike, who seems to think that he is the boss, is sometimes very naughty and does not listen to well  -  he might spoil you rotten).  Michelle and the girls will crawl into your little heart just as soon.  I know you will love them in return as they already love you and for sure you will not need to fill the paw-prits of Dollar  -  you will create your own and be appreciated for who you are  -  Shadow.

Great to meet you young one.  Tell Mike to keep us updated on your "moves"....  cheers for now, buddy.

From aunty Dalene  (the biggest sucker in the world for all animals  -  damn and you are all so smart that you know it)

Thanks for all the kind words, the dog already stole Michele's dressing gown this morning and dragged it off down the hallway... and yes, his ears are very well formed for his age.... but hell, this mutt is naughty...... Meiouw the cat already snot klapped him into place last night, just to show who actually runs the pet dept in the house....

Seeing  the pic of the squirrel reminds me when one of my  disasters  turned  life lesson arrived to stay in o'mund with me .. he brought me a baby squirrel as a pet ..well a pet it was indeed ,, cute cheeky ,, made home in my wardrobe .. he  survived remarkably well ,I was his parent and friend . at times when i worked at town electrical in the armature section  I  would  take him to  work , problem was e always wanted to snuggle up to me so i  used to take a cardboard box with cloth in it and put it in the baking  oven to get nice and  warm .. take it  out  and  drop him in the  warmed up bed and  he  would snuggle up and go to sleep for a  few hours .. he travelled  around  the country  with  me  when i  went on holiday the one time , survived a few  hours in  a  toilet bowl  when  left alone  at  a  friends  flat , got  back  could  not  find  him  called  and  heard this  pitiful  sound  .. there  was  he clinging inside the bowl .. lesson  learnt , keep  lid on  toilet  at  all  times  as  they  are  curious  little  creatures .. next time  he  survived a  10 story fall from a  block of  flats ..  all he  had  was  a  sprained  wrist  and  was  treated  at  O'mund  hospital  by  dr Redding  Jones ...  when travelling  he  would at  times sit on the back seat watching  the  countryside  flash  by   or  sit  on  my  shoulder .... and if  it  got  too  hot  he  would  crawl  under  the front seat and  catch  a kip .. when  he  started  to mature  and  get  restless ( hormones and  the  longing to  start  a  family - they  to  are proud  creatures  with the  "silk purse" rivalling  that  of  a  tomcat ) he  was  taken  back  to  stellenbosch  where  he  came   from  ..  set  free  one  last  look  back and  off  he  went in  pusuit of  his  new  life .. pity  was in  those  days  taking  deveolping etc  with  pictures was  such  a  schlep so  somehow  he  never  featured in  any  pics ...

Hi Mike

YOUR POOCH IS BEAUTIFUL.  I also got my dog, though not a German Shepherd, but a minature dachsie again.  I now have six of the little things. She is six weeks old and her name is Cloe. Take good care of your pooch, they are worth it.
