Working the bars was definitely an experience, especially as the night progressed and peoples condition succumbed to the effects of various bevvies. The characters that evolved and thier astounding capabilities....
Favourite behind the bar encounter was Cricket Club, Hobo's party '91; "Digger" Barkley was classic...

Wow, the Sportsmans, I don't know why it was ever called that name b cuss the only sport we did there was to excersise our elbows by picking up a glass of drink and "forcing" it to our mouths......well I enjoyed it soooo much that I would stop of after work (on the mine at uubvely) then, have a couple and sometimes see my folks and have a packet of crips (chips) then, go home and have an apple for dinner, get dressed and go back to the sportsmans for about 8pm and wonder in and out of the bar and sometimes to the youth club, that was great when the disco was on.....and the small disco light. boy that was groovy baby....
What about the street parties and the music on top of the roof of the big shopping centre. that was way cool.....

wasn't an official bar in town but when i was waitressing at the steakhouse in the early to mid 80's, after we'd kicked the last of the stragglers out, steve v/d westhuizen and myself (sometimes harleen benton too) used to sit till the early hours of the morning drinking Irish coffees and wine.  in fact it was the best "bar" in town - no official closing time. on a wednesday night we always knew to expect the golfers just before closing time (frikkie frylink, ivan booker, joe de jager - sometimes ben havenga too) and those invariably became veeeeery late nights with the unofficial bar closing veeeeery much later than normal.  great days (or nights)!  ;D

the snooker & darts club was also a great bar to drink at - always some kinda action happening there!

Hey, Schnapps - now in Luderitz you can get the best "Pepper Schnapps" that I've ever tasted.

Just speak to to the person who at the moment is looking after the security issues for that area of the desert. I cannot mention his name, but if you PS me I will give you a detailed map to his house........ 8)

BEST pub in Luderitz in my eyes - and nose for that matter.

Kenny! You must have a very big house, or you stored that bottle in a neighbours deepfreeze.... that was a whole 10 minutes to walk to the deepfreeze , have a look at the bottle and then a 5 minute return walk to the pc......   ;)

Wow, must be at least five years or so since I HAD  a good drink. I remember the names of the drinking games but can't remember what we did. What did we do......someone tell me. Oh, will we ahve to play them when I come to visit......hee hee.

mike, ask Ivan how NOT to drink flaming sambuccas!  if he looks at u blankly, remind him of the night at cherry burchell's. if he still stares at u blankly, he needs an urgent reminder to stay away from them if he still has his bokbaartjie  :D ps. also remind him that coffee beans are more easily available on shop shelves - a lot less hazardous!
