Yo Richard, some nice creapy ones from you there.  I wonder how many dabbled with "glassy glassy" in their youth. Seems many are attracted to the unkown when young and fearless. I remember being exposed at the Lisser's house to some nasty situations. My sweet sisters were very innocent (sic) you see. "glassy glassy" on a broken door in the lounge, ring a bell??? Come do tell, either one of u ran screaming from the lounge? I think Aunty Joan could still have been alive? What about at Steff Turner's place, whoa not sure I want to remember? Didnt she have a black cat? Barbara E you guys also got up to some naughty stuff? ok, clearly you were not thinking when you had this brat lurking around in the background hey. OOOO, I can use opportunities now. Seems we could liven up this forum a little again, and make for some good reading.

Talking with Anette over at the Jasper house museum, it turns out that when they took photographs of the various displays in the museum, most of the photo's had Orbs on them....SPirits in the museum.... there was no refelction anywhere and the same things occur with different camera's.. She will let me have a few of them to post in here....

Another incident .. not exactly a haunting .. but ..  well  read  on ...  After  Brent had passed on ... a few  weeks  afterwards  I was at Auntie Irenes  anyhow she took me into   Brents bedroom and gave me a few items of his  .. one  was a radio .. 9 transistor  small and was palm sized ( high tech in  those  days ) and a car toy . it was a red VW beetle battery  powered ,  switched  on it  would  scuttle  around and if  it  hit  an obstacle it  would  change course and procceeed ... I put this  car  on  the  window pelmet  in  my  bedroom , taking  it  down  every now  and again  and  letting  it  run  around ..
In  the  last  few weeks of  Brents  life he  was given  cards  from  well meaning  people... white  with the praying  hands or  a little bookof psalms attached to the  front  of  the  card , when I  say  well  meaning ... hello ?? if  somebody gave  me  cards like  that  I  would  indeed be  worried  about   my  lifespan ,, anyhow that  was  then ..
Well   this  was  about  4- 5 weeks  after  Brents passing .. I  climbed up  to  get  the  car  off the pelmet , picked  the  car up  and got  the  shock of my  life..  underneath the  VW  was  one of those  little psalm  books  .. I  remember falling  back in shock  and  landing  on  my  bed ..  I took it  to  my  Mom and  asked  her if  she  ahd any knowledge of  it ..   No ... somehow this little  psalm book from one  of  the  many  similar cards  ahd  made  its way  to  me .. in it  was  the  23rd psalm, a  favourite of  Brent ..  ethereal  travel ??  who  knows ??
Further   to this  since Richard and Yvette have  confirmed some  things about   the house , I have  had  a  bit  of  a curtain lifted , I think I  did a lot  of  blanking  afterwards ..  yes it  was not a happy home in the respect that Brent was not  well and  on his  way  out .. it  cast a  shadow  over  the entire  family , he was indulged in  so many  ways  to  try  keep him  happy .. My  dad made a fish tank for   Brent  to  keep him  occupied, the pain  made him an  almost  impossible and tricky  person to  keep  company  with  in  his  last  few  months , what does  come  back is  , my  first  memory  of  him ..  the  Barrats  ahd moved  out  from   next  door and  this  new  family  moved  in  ,,, I remember looking  over  the  fence  and  was  greeted  by this  boy who  was  in  so  many  ways  a  doppelganger  of  me .. we  became  pals ..then  they  moved  to 13th ave .. we  still remained  pals , but  the mystery  pain in  his  leg  that   was  dismissed as growing  pains  became   something  serious  ,, the  big C .. too  late .. nothing  could stop it  as  it  had progressed throughout his  entire  system to  the  lungs  .. I  remember  pidgeon hok built  for  him , also a diversion.. a  banana  tree  in  the back  yard .. the  conifer trees  leading  up the  front  path ( they  made  the  lounge  dark  but  cool ) ,, the desperation of  uncle  Bill and Auntie Irene ,, knowing  that he  was  beyond help and it  was only  a matter of  time ..   then  the passing   and seeing  the deep  depression  and unraveling of auntie Irene .. she turned her back on God and blamed him for  taking  her boy away .. her  attachment to  me as  a living  reminder of  her  son ..  then finally  taking her own life ...  yes  that  that  house  would  ahve the energy  that was  felt  afterwards is  no  surprise.. a  lot of   personal  pain must  have  seeped  into  every  wall of  that home ..  If ony she could  just have  come  to  terms  with  it  .. but  then  she  was  a  beautiful  but  fragile  person .. too fragile  for  the  life  frame  she was  put in ..

@ Richard ,, it  was  called a  Broom  bush ....those  worms .. I  tried  to increase  my  silkworm  collection by  adding  the  worms from  the  broom  bush  .. the   buggers  destroyed  all  my  silkworms ,, seems  they  not  only  had  a  taste  for  vegetation  but  other  worms ..  and no  they  could  not  spin  silk  so  i  had  to  start  all over again ..

While they where constructing a tower in that area a guy who was supplying a water truck to the site died, the myth goes that if you where to travel passed that place at night your veh lights would go off and stop and after a while evrything would be normal again, I've been passed there a few times in the evenings and alas nothing has happend to me yet matbe the bloke who told me that story was trying to scare me but boo to him

With the amount of suicides in OM at the time, it's no wonder the place is haunted. I recall there were like 2 or 3 a year. Creepy stuff.

I remember the Shepherds Neck ghost story quite well. Apparently she died when her car left the road on that short "mountain pass" between the riding club and the Ernest Openheimer Bridge and landed in oom Danie Pollards garden. The scoutmasters at the time would exploit this poor "lady in white" to the max. I don't recall any scout camp at Shepherds Neck where she or should I say he didn't make an appearance. After a long night in front of a bonfire telling ghost stories, there would be this crackling in the bushes behind us and voila there she (he) was!

hi Sandy.
sorry I took so long to post this "add on" to your story of E35/11. Lets start at the beginning of my experiences with this house. I always had a problem with the back yard and used to feel very uncomfortable when arriving at home after a night out etc(only after dark). i had to park my bike in a shed at the back gate and when walking toawards the back door it used to feel as if someone was walking right up your ar.e and all (and I mean all) your hairs would stand on end and it would feel like something was enshrouding you with a feeling of dread and fear. the parking of the bike stopped and I used to pull in and race along the path (quite narrow - ended up in the flower bed once after hitting the drain) to beyond the back door.(feeling seemed to stop at the back door) rhen running inside. No amount of alcohol seemed to change this feeling. I remember one time when my folks were on leave I had Steven fields staying with me whlie they were away and he complained about knocking noises in the walls and along the passage he was not comfortable with the place, but stayed anyway. I used to stay in a "pondock" in the yard when I was an Appie and although the place felt uncomfortable i did not have any experiences there (possibly the Klippies). When Maureen and I got married we moved into this house and Maureen complained about a knocking on the front door - when she would go to see who was there - no one then at the same time there would be knocking on the back door - also no one there. Another thing that used to happen was she would hear somethig fall in the kitchen and on checking - the salt or pepper pot would be lying on it's side. This happened more than once. She used to also complain that when she sat in the lounge with her back to the window it would feel as if someone was watching her from behind. I thought that it was all in her imagination and tried to find some logical explanation for all these happenings (I only had bad experiences in the back yard up till that time). another thing that happened was that Justin used to wake up screaming and when we welnt to check - he would be standing in the cot staring at a point in the room and then tell us "that it has gone" this unnerved me but the worst was still to come. We had a big braai one sunday(I think) memory fails me as to who all was there (Ian,Pauline,Steven, etc). Later that evening we had all retired into the house to carry on with the party and I think that it was Pauline and Zan that said that they heard strange noises in the kitchen - this led to all the "spook" stories of this house comming to the fore. To cut a long story short. Our resident "ghost busters" decided that it was something (item) in the house that was causing all these happenings. On investigation they decided on stuff that was left behind when we moved in. The resident "ghost killers" - Pauline and Steven (my brother in law) went to the park (across the road) to burn the articles (apparently this would rid you of the pests- might work for rats etc - but Spooks? I do not know). While they were busy they saw a shape (- black - about 10 ft tall - and no legs - seemed to hover - looked something like Darth Vader) under the trees they then ran back to the house with this information and a cloak of a dark and dreadfull feeling seemed to cover and permeate the house. Needless to say we all departed pronto. We stayed at maureen's folk's house for a period. we then saw an advert for "spiritualists" (we were ignorant in those days) in the newsletter - we contacted them and went to the house to "check it out" they walked around with the usual "bad feeling here, bad feeling there" that they use - until we went into the main bedroom - I happened to look up at the top of the wardrobe and saw a book open(no help, no hands, nothing) and then the pages flipped closed as if browsing through the book and then closed again - this was the first time in my life that I had seen something like that - that was the end of me(I was scared of "spooks" in those days) - we departed that house only to return to pack - (people thought that we were mad but we were issued another house).. Apparently whatever this was hopped (floated, crawled - whatever the type of locomotion they use) into the car with Ian and Pauline and I know that they had "spook" problems for years after that (they called him Charlie). Another story about that house: when ian was staying in the pondock him and some friends were playing glassy glassy in the pondock. They appantly 'contacted" an old dead girlfriend of one present (John Delaney - no family of Allan) then all hell broke loose - lights went out with the usual scrabbling of peolple in those circumstances. When order was restored they found that a chain and pendant given to John by his present girlfriend had been removed from his neck - never to be found again. Maybe this was the start of the problems in this house - Who knows!!!
Do you realise that in 40 years time, there will be a lot of old ladies walking around with tatoos?

I know nothing about that house but that just put the wind up me just reading it!!!  Nice to see you on here Angus, I remember my brother Richard (Jonker) talking about you a lot when we were younger.  : )

Thanks Gus  .. good  long  story on  that one ..  yes it  was  creepy and seemed to  be focused on my bedroom and the back of the house leading to the pondock .. but as  said I had made a ' deal ' with it when it  first appeared  so it did not bother me .. only others .. hence my abiltyto return to the house  .. and yes  the following to Blauwberg where Ian and pauline stayed  ( it had definitely attached itself to them ) .. they phoned me about it  as it was causing havoc .. every time i arrived ..  it would go dead quiet .. the the one evening I arived with Shalto Duthy in tow .. he  ahd  contacted me and  went  with to  see Ian and Pauline ..  we  were sitting  in  the  lounge  .. again  dead quiet ..no problems .. when suddenly i saw this dark shadow move through the hallway .. flew toward us .. litereally felt it brush past me  ( a kind of breeze effect ) but it could not  touch me .. ( remember the " deal " ) anyhow nobody aware of  what  was happening  except me untill Shalto   who  was  seated  about  a  metre away from  me flew  out  of his  chair .. screaming .. something  was  screaming  the  most  foul  sounds in  his  ear .. and  trust me I know  what  he went  through  .. heard  them  more  than once or  twice in  my lifetime ...

Hi Sandy,
My parents (Jood & Jean Joubert) moved into that house (E35-11th) round about 1984/85.  I never found anything out of the ordinary, but I do remember my father telling my mother that old Jack Buchanan was restless again tonight.  He was convinced that it was your father in the house.
My father passed away in that same house in 1998 and the only strange feeling I ever had was after his death.  I had to go to the house and water the plants as my mother and brother were in away.  I walked down the passage and did not even get to the first room when I felt strange and scared.  I just ran back out and locked the house.  Told my husband to go water the plants.
My mother remained in the same house until her retirement in 2002 and I don't think anything was ever mentioned again.
Might be that my father and yours are now haunting the family living there!!!

This is not in O/Mund, but I am going to post these pics here for you all to see, then you can come to your own conclusion.

These were pics I took of my mom, Joey, the day before her death -  or should I rather say, I tried to take pictures, but what you see here is what came out.  Thought my camera was broken.

About 2 days before she passed away she kept asking me who the person behind me was, and I could see nobody, so I just thought then she is mixed up.  She also kept hearing children laughing, told me how lekker they were playing and kept asking me who looks after all the children.  Just told her that she does'nt have to worry, 'cos there are people looking after them.

My own conclusion to this afterwards:  when I took these photo's there must have been an entity of some sorts with her that eluminated with this blue light, but I could not see it with my eyes.  The camera cought it though.  I deleted some of the photo's, for I really thought that it was broken.  Only after her death, when I took a photo again to test it and that photo came out perfectly normal, I realized what had happened.

1st and 2nd pics were taken 2 days before her death  -  these were her arms that was so swollen and bursted.

The last 2 pics was taken on the Friday afternoon about 7pm - I tried to capture her face and this is what came out on the camera -  she passed away on the Saturday morning 9pm.

Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.
