Not sure if anyone has memories of the Bioscope, remember the days when I use to get 20c pocket money, which would buy me a packet of chips  :emot10:, a sherbet straw and an entry into the Saturday afternoon matinee at the bioscope.  Also remember some talent shows that were held there and also have a memory of Sias Reynecke who came to perform there for us one year......
Not forgetting all the smooching that took place in the back row.......
Don't sweat the small shit!

I still remember lining up for miles in front of the Bioscope on a Saturday afternoon.  I actually thought of it yesterday when I heard Charlton Heston had died as I am sure I saw Ben Hur or the Ten Commandments or some such show with him in it at the Bioscope.  I can remember walking home in the dark and being so totally mesmerised by the movie.

Yup, saw all the good old films there like 'Smokey and the bandit', the Terence Hill & Bud Spencer classics, and of course Jaws ... then bought the poster that I put up on my cupboard door (oh, those sliding doors ..). I would then wake up at night all freaked out with Jaws staring at me. Till this day, I have a major fear of sharks ... iknow

I remember seeing Bambi, bawled my eyes out. Was always so dark in the movie, remember those very heavy velvet curtains that hung at the door. If you were late, you peeked through them till the right moment that you could sneak to your seat with as little obstruction of someones view as possible. When you came outside, the light blinded you and everyone could see you had been bawling. Remember how they put notices on the screen if someone had to be called out for an emergency.

I remember the movie "Day of the dolphin". There's a scene, when the main acters enter a room with a giant window toward the aquarium. They turn the light on and you see a dead man hanging in front of the windo´w. I must've been about ten. It hit me so hard, I started leaving the movies.. Then I went back. At least my pants were dry...  laughpoint

Remember the weekly serial - cops & robbers? Usually 10 minutes long, with 5 minutes showing what happened th eweek before. Sometimes we would pay our 10c just to see the serial, especially if there was a "soppy" movie on.

Nope Uwe,  but I recall all kids yelling as soon as Rocket Man appered to beat the bad boys.
