If anyone is passing that way or goes for that coffee and cake they were bragging about ...  Pleeeeeeeeeeez would you take a few photo's of the stables.  I remember the tack room, indoor stables where Oom Danie had his horses and the Riding Club owned horses use to be housed.  Some pics of old riding faces would also be appreciated... bighug

Dunja, are you still riding and do you own horses?

:emot78:  No neither.  When we left Oranjemund there was just never enough money to own a horse, let alone ride regularily.  I guess once you have not done it for so many years you tend to loose your nerve.  I remember jumping on the horses in the paddock without a bridle or even a halter and did not even think twice of the consequences.  I went riding a few years ago and I must say I was rather nervous.  Perhaps if I started riding regularily the nerves will settle.  Unfortunately living in the city and trying to juggle a fulltime job and motherhood does not leave too much time to ride.
My son is 2.5 and I got him to sit on a pony recently and he loved it so much.  I could not believe that he was not scared at all and just wanted to ride on his own without me leading the pony.  Perhaps we will exlore the possibility of him riding if he ever wanted to.  I still have a deep passion for horses and perhaps someday I will find myself in a position where keeping a horse on a small holding would be possible :-)

I could never imagine my life without the horses.  I think my children feel the same, escpecially Susan, my daughter.  They started riding when they were very small - never taught them or took them for lessons.  Put them on the horse and told them to hold on.  Well, many a fall later and many horses later, they are still riding.  I still ride to, but don't get the time to do it that often - same thing about the work keeping me busy.

For you who live in the city it is also very expensive to keep a horse.  Stable fees, feed, travelling costs, trainers etc. But maybe one day your dream will come true.  And if you ever come this way or drive past, contact me  -  you are most welcome to come and enjoy a good ride and also let your child enjoy it with you.

I have a span of pics of the stables, paddocks and the Coffee Shoppe. Give me a moment to get some nice 1's together and I'll put 'em up for you. My mrs is very actively involved there.
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!
