Had a very nice chat with Bob Burrell last night, he was the chap that found it. He wisely pointed out to me, it was perhaps a good thing that the wreck was located in MA1 (Mining Area 1), as this has allowed the wreck to be offlimits to the hordes of Treasure Hunters. Namdeb at the moment are still to decide what to do with the find and are fully aware of the sensitive nature of such a find.

Hopefully they sensitively decide that this is part of Namibia's history and not Namdeb's and make sure it is gifted to the country!

Hey Zorro, glad to see you here, It seems like Namdeb ain't spilling the beans just yet on the coins, I just know that it's gone for cleaning.... here's my next email from Dr.Paul Brandt

I am having sleepless nights about 'the wreck'.  I agree fully - a good thing it lies in an protected area - lets just hope Namdeb gives Dr Noli the time, funds and infrastructure he will need to do this well. With the site being 'on-land' -wow! what an opportunity! My biggest fear is that ALL the artifacts dont end up in fresh water immediately - for those interested - depending on the type and material of the artifact -after recording, drawing, photographed, catalogued in-situ (where it was found) - it is removed and the start of treatment is for the artifact to be placed in regularly changed fresh water for up to a year - the real 'treatment' only now starts after this etc etc

I have not yet hear from Dr Noli or anybody from Namdeb - still hoping they would contact me. Should anybody wish to talk to me re this wreck or any other shipwreck/artifacts etc - please contact me at "

NEWSFLASH! NEWSFLASH!  That pot of coins that was recovered has an estimated value of 2,2 Million u$  and their condition is neAR PERFECT.... Still no official comment........
