I agree with you Sandy. These experiances are often a mystery. I've made my experiances too. But I believe, that just because I can't explain things with ratio, it doesn't mean I'm seeing ghosts.
Working in a psychiatry for near as 20 years has disillusend me more and more. I see people every day experiencing "over natural" things, and these things are only within themselves. Even if there are impulses from outside, the rest happens inside.
fror eg. The impulse -> As kids we all learned that Jesus is in all of us. This doesn't mean I'm the reincarnation of Jesus. But it's the way psychiatric sick people often work. Obviously there's a long way between the impulse and the psychose (hope it's spellt that way) .
I'll try to describe a situation as an egsample for many other situations I've experienced over the years. Hope my words will make sewnce... you know, the translation.
I've always had gettogethers with my patients. It#s important to sit together, socialising and showing interest toward each other. a chance of opening yourself toward the world ect.... Nowe there was this lady, who explained why she was so fat. It's only because she drinks so much water. The reason why she drink so much, is because she has to produce food for the world. Now what she meant was, that she was "giving birth" to food. She would lie in bed at night as if in labour shouting, moaning and scaring people...
At that time I had just split up with my exwife. She told me I married the wrong women and deserve some one more suitable. The solution: Get a wife baked in the human factory. Now everybody in the round was pissing him/herself. There was no affinity from the other patients.
So I asked one of the men why he's laughing. He explained how stupid this all was. Now what I knew, was that he imagined to be pregnant with twins for about 10 years. So i asked him if he has ever made experiences like this one. Telling people about himself and others would laugh. He got serious very quickly.
I know this doesn't explain whether there is haunting or not. I just wanted to show how people make experiences in a so much convincing way for themselves, that things seem to turn out to be their reality.
If you go one step further, like saying "birds of a feather...", then you sem to be sure your experiences are reality. You tend to believe "everybody makes the same experiences so this must be reality".
as I said. Only my opinion. Nothing realy measurable for any of the point of yiews in this topic.
Nothing special. Just some clips I put in youtube.de

Take a shift  to  the  side .... another perspective ..  I agree with the birds of a feather  happening ... but now take a recent happening .. the boxing day dinner you saw on  the  site ... Now Pauls youngest brother .. 5 yrs old ...  not a bright child  with a speech impediment and slight learning disability more interested in his computer games ..not at all affected by Johns passing .. he knew him as " uncle John ' coming to the odd braai etc etc ... No on the surface grief , longing or anything that should set the stage  for seeing  or making it happen in the mind  in  fact I would call him  innocent in is  simplicity ..  during one of the  breaks inbetween  courses , young  ones  run into  garden playing.. as its a warm evening  a few of us  filter outside ... I'm sitting  by  the  pond   relaxing ... Young Alex  comes  and sits  next  to  me  , puts  his  hand  on  my knee  looks  up at  me and  says  ever so  matter  of  factly and without  fear   .. " uncle sandy there  is a  man who looks just like uncle John walking in  the  garden over  there" .. pointing  in  general direction  ,, nobody  there.. i patted him  on  the  head and  quietly  said " yes i know that is how  it  is " ... he  runs  off again shouting  and  babbling  like  only  a  young  child in  play  can do ??
Your life experience  ?? doing the Psychiatry ..  it  changes the viewpoint ,, the  science of  it  and  the assault on your  senses  from  dealing  with  people with real  mind  problems  that manifest in the most  strange  ways ..
I know that I  am not delusional , but  if I sat down with a Psychitrist they would most proabably  think I am ... again from  their  science viewpoint  I  would  be  classed as  so .. but then  again  I go back  to  the theory of  the  elements and  water  that  make  up a human  being  or  any  other  form of  life .. Mix  them toghether  and  ask  the  scientist  to  create life  from  that  soup ?? he cannot ,, so  therefore out  of his  inabilty  to  do  so  he  will  always  look for  a  way  to  disprove  the  miracle of creation , ... ??

Sandy - I know it has been a long time ago, but I only post a reply today " Your Quote 2008 =  After  Brent had passed on ... a few  weeks  afterwards  I was at Auntie Irenes  anyhow she took me into   Brents bedroom and gave me a few items of his  ..  car toy . it was a red VW beetle  I put this  car  on  the  window pelmet  in  my  bedroom , taking  it  down  every now  and again  and  letting  it  run  around ..

Well   this  was  about  4- 5 weeks  after  Brents passing .. I  climbed up  to  get  the  car  off the pelmet , picked  the  car up  and got  the  shock of my  life..  underneath the  VW  was  one of those  little psalm  books  .. I  remember falling  back in shock  and  landing  on  my  bed ..  I took it  to  my  Mom and  asked  her if  she  ahd any knowledge of  it ..   No ... somehow this little  psalm book from one  of  the  many  similar cards  ahd  made  its way  to  me .. in it  was  the  23rd psalm, a  favourite of  Brent ..  ethereal  travel ??  who  knows ??

My comment about your experience Sandy - . about 7 years ago a friend of ours passed away. an ex Oranjemunder. he lived alone in a rondawel on a smallholding - He had a few bee hives , he sold honey to the local shop .  After the funeral , the Priest and a friend went to his dwelling to tidyup . Just finished with the task -  a bee flew in - sat on the white pillow , paused a bit , then came and sat on the friend's arm for a minute or two , before it took off and flew away through the open window. The Priest also passed away a year or so ago . He was a man of repute . Since he also spoke about the incident - I feel that he wont mind at all , ant that I may repeat his story . Maybe the bee was a messenger ,, life after life  ?
