Suna and Eddie Engelbrecht send regards to all of you and the rest of those who know them.  We spent the past weekend with them, enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, just very cold in the Free State.  Diana & Yvete, I will be sending both of you an email with an update of her health.

Carl, Eddie says there were many Beauvallon trips, please advise which trip you are referring to.

Thanks Charmaine, glad to hear Eddie and Suna are doing well.

The famous Beauvallon trip happened on a new years day in the late 70's. If I can remember straight, Eddie had a red Audi???

Anyway, my parents, the Engelbrechts and some other friends had partied through the night, and when the sun came up somebody suggested spending the day "recuperating" (yea right) at Beauvallon. The cars were packed and off they all went in a convoy.

My mom had insisted on driving our car as my dad was "slightly" more intoxicated than she was, and she was worried he wouldn't make it past the security checkpoint at the bridge. Between the riding club and the bridge, she lost control and took out the fence next to the road, almost ending up in Danie Pollards garden in the process. The car was quite badly dented but still driveable so they decided to continue on to Beauvallon. When they stopped at the enterance to the bridge they were greeted by the sight of Eddie reversing back along the bridge to them with bits and pieces hanging off his car.

Remember those red and green lights that signalled when you could cross the bridge?  Eddie had decided to cross on a red light and had met another car halfway. The other car obviously had right of way and Eddie had to reverse all the way back. (remember, they had been partying all night). It wasn't long and Eddie connected the side railing of Mr Oppenheimer's famous bridge.

The best part was when he stopped next to our car, and he and my dad started bragging about whose car had the most damage...lol

Carl,

Yes, party they surely could!!  I remember the one evening when Suna and Stef Schreuder had a party at the shopping centre.  Suna and Edwin lived in the new houses which were built next to the magazine on the way to the mining area on your right side.  Well, Suna was driving home and Steph was with her in the car, a BMW.  Dont know how she got it right, but she took the corner too wide between the magazine and the workshops and connected with one of the manholes, those which were surrounded by cement.  Needless to say, she dragged this block of cement underneath the BMW.  When the car finally came to a halt, Steph got out to look what is going on and fell into the hole!!!.  She ended up with stitched under her chin and in her one knee.  Well, swaerie was not impressed with her and they did not speak to one another for a while.
