Sorry Chris, but this one is actually true. Pigeons have amazingly good eyesight, but very poor depth perception. This explains why they constantly fly into windows and break their necks.

When they spot a liferaft in the far distance they actually perceive it to be a morsel of food right in front of them, hence the frantic pecking at the glass dome.

Jannie, a little retarded, goes to the Kruger Wildtuin with his parents.  Car windows open on the drive, not taking notice of the warning signs, they stop at a water hole to view all the animals.  Suddenly an ostrich comes from the side of the car, sticks it's head through the window and starts pecking furiously at Jannie.  A few minutes later the ostrich stops the assualt and walks away as if nothing had happened.  Blooded and snotty, Jannie sits in his seat, still not moving, just staring at the vicious bird, then suddenly he says:  "F**ken duif!"
