Take note my  ahs  and abck  and  so many  more slips of the mind and fingers .. and of course my handwriting  ..  reading  and  understanding something like that  is a cinch .. second nature ..

Rhona, that gives you an answer on your question to Diana from me  -  I'm a reader!  Love reading  -  not always enough time, but I tend to make time for it.  Feels like my brain leaks knowledge if I do not read.

Dalene - I too love a good book; for me there's nothing nicer than letting the imagination flow through the chaptures as your mind conjures up image after image...........my favourite of all time; which I've read over and over again - ''A Town Like Alice'' it's the story of a gang of women made walk all over the place during a war - until most of them died. That TV series Tenko always reminds me of it.........I think there is an old movie as well; but no movie can ever compare to a book..................another of my favourites is ''These is my words'' - It's a diary written by a young girl as her family travelled through America on the wagon train..........excellent read with a hint of history - and my third favourite is ''The Whitest Flower'' again a history story but this time telling about the famine in Ireland.........If I had to go to solitary confinement for the rest of my life - those three books I would bring with me. What's your favourite read?

First choise  -  I am David  -  a story about a young boy in a concentration camp who is helped to escape by one of the guards and how he travels all over Europe to find his mother again.

Second book is an Afrikaans literary work by Marie Heese  -  Die Uurwerk Kantel  -  a must read for every woman!

Then I have read Dances with Wolfes before I saw the movie, same with The Horse Whisperer, I'll take Manhatten, North & South  -  cannot name them all, but like you say  -  the movie never reveals all the stuff. 

Good literary works -  then fiction that has a lot of reality facts  i.e.  the books of Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy. 

Currently reading a book -  The Chinaman by Stephen Perry (I think)  -  thus far looking good. 

Then I read the Earth's Children Series by Jean M Auel  -  The Clan of the Cavebear,  The Valley of the Horses,  The Mammoth Hunters, The Plains of Passage  -  but you have to read them from book 1  -  like Lord of the Rings, otherwise you will never grasp the full story.  (Read Lord of the Rings as well).  For whom the bell Tolls by Hemmingway has captured me since my schoolyears.   

I have read so many books  -  cannot name them all.  Another one that has also been marked on my shelf  -  Shadowy Horses  -  set in the time the Romans invaded Scotland from the north -  good history mixed with fiction.  I will carry on the whole night throug.

Oh yes  -  naturally the Anne of Green Gables  series as well.

"These is my words" - an all time favourite Rhona - someone nicked my copy and haven't been able to find it to replace.  My favourite is "To kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and all John Steinbeck's books.

We had "To Kill a Mocking Bird" as a setwork book in High School, really enjoyed it and also "Wuthering Heights" which was our Matric setwork book.

What a simple science fiction book we had for a matric setwork book  -  The day of the Triffids!  I still remember it -  it was friggen 26 years ago and I still hate the book  - biggest load of crap if I have ever read.

For Afrikaans setwork we had these Dutch books  -- one titled  KEES  - quite the bit of humor.
