How many people hated driving over that bridge? What to do if a car comes from the otherside....? Is it safe? It's very narrow....will I go over the edge?

Yes, I remember the bridge, and the rythmic "tap-tap" the wheels made as you crossed.
How would you feel crossing it on horse-back?  In the "Your photo's" section, there's photo's posted by Rebecca Blignaut about horses, in particular one photo which has the words "Not sure what this was all about" underneath it.  That was my dad (Bertus) and Oom Frans Schneider who underwent a horse-riding trip from Vioolsdrift to Oranjemund, all along the river on the RSA side.  They covered the 260km in about 6 days.  The "pack-horse" was called "Sally" - one of the original wild horses from Aus.  Oom Frans was riding "Blackie", and my dad a horse from Mr Pollard.
I have more pictures, and will forward them as soon as I have completed scanning them, and got the whole story from the old toppie in Malmesbury!

Oh I cannot wait to see those pics and hear the rest of your story Bertie.  I remember once we went to Octa (Spelling) with the horses.  It also took a day or two or perhaps a few more.  It was a trip that I enjoyed so much with the riding club.  We also  rode accross the bridge along the orange river past Beauvallon and just carried on straight.... Not sure if there are any others in the forum that were on that trip and can share anymore?
Don't sweat the small shit!

@ Dunja - just got some more slides out of the boxes.  Will scan them during the week.  Going to get more pictures from dad coming weekend and scan them as well.  Have to get some facts and stories as well, to go with the pictures.
Bro Carl is quiet at last.  Good, that means he's probably getting some studying done.  Will be thinking of him on Monday!
