I'm so glad you asked me that question Carl - I believe he was making Corn Krispies one day when his lovely wife Mary Kellogs came in and thumped the kitchen table flattening out the Krispies and hence the Cornflake was invented.........Oooops! but you didn't ask me that question...........his occupation was to torture young children by making them eat breakfast before they went to school - quite a genius in his own right as he marketed the whole thing on breaking the nightly fast and so making it the most important meal of the day..........

For those of you wondring why Mary thumped the table - it was because she was sick amd tired of picking up Johns socks!!!

John Harvey Kellogg (February 26, 1852 – December 14, 1943) was an American medical doctor in Battle Creek, Michigan, who ran a sanitarium using holistic methods, with a particular focus on nutrition, enemas, and exercise. Kellogg was an advocate of vegetarianism and is best known for the invention of the corn flakes breakfast cereal with his brother, Will Keith Kellogg.

No way!!! I was completely and utterly teasing................

I know, I know. There was a proggie on the ol telly this morning showing how cornflakes were made, and they mentioned our friend Dr Kellog. Apparently he was somewhat of a nutter, as well as a religious fanatic. He fell into disrepute when he started preaching sexual abstinence and chemical circumcision of young girls by means of pouring carbolic acid onto their genitals. Furthermore he preached that male circumcisions should be carried out without anaesthetic. What a nutcase.
