Well, just thought for those of you that are interested, yesterday was cross country at OPS, remember that? From the cricket field up and around the Lodge, through the desert...anyhow for interest sake, the incredible, awesome BARNATO won it.... (high fives all around!)

Hooray for Barnato House.

I used to loathe running the cross country. Barefoot too! That sand was so hot. We used to stop and stand on our vests or shorts for some respite then after our feet had cooled, we'd carry on.

Hooray, hooray, hooray!

Way to go, you Barnato guys.    Loved cross country - used to be quite good at it too  -  used to love running.

Lucky me  -  these days I have a car!
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of other cannot keep it from themselves.

Quite a treacherous cross-country through the sand.  Wonder how many kids would do it today, barefoot and in sand!
There was a specific yellow flower which when it died, left triangular leaves with millions of thorns on top.  I've never seen it again, but I can still remember them from Oranjemund's dunes.

By the way, glad to see the Barnato team joining the party.  Yesterday the screen was red, red, red.  Go Barnato!  We're definitely THE color today!

@ Michael - Any way we as old and proud Barnato teamers could congratulate our team in OPS on their victory?  Maybe e-mail at school?

I remeber a boy called Sebastian - was the best ever at the cross country, he was nearly finnished one year before I even reached the desert.  There was another boy we called him Ollie ( can't remember is real name)  He had walking difficulties but he alway gave it 100% and never gave up.  The whole school used to cheer him on when he came over the hill at the end.  I can still see his smile  - I remember ever seeing him not smiling.  He was in my sisters class so he would be about 30 now.
