Hey georg ruf jr.
Yes, I'm a DJ for Kudu FM in Windhoek.  And I wouldn't want to do anything else!!!
Oranjemunder 1985 - 2005, Currently in Windhoek

I've read about the station on the board.
The only stations I remember: Springbock radio and Radio Good Hope.
What's it like in WH nowadays? I went to St. Pauls College in the late 70s. The time in which Apardheid weas put down and SWA was on it's way to Namibia.
Kleinwindhoek was still small WH and there weren't half as many monuments in town as today.

Yeah, we moved there when I was only 2 and I moved away 2 1/2 years ago.  Sjoe, must say I really miss it sometimes!

We lived in 8th Avenue, right in the centre of town, then in Ostrich Drive (on the West border of town) and then in East 8th Avenue, a stone's throw away from the "Tank Park" - the playground with that old tank just standing there.  Do you remember that?

I know about the Darney's - Annie & Andrew I specifically remember - but we didn't really know each other that well.  I know Melanie worked in the children's library since forever.  I dealt with John through work circumstances a few times when I worked for Namdeb, but other than that I can't say I really knew them.

My brother also eventually went to Springbok, and most of my friends went to Cape Town for high school.  Funny how all the Oranjemund students kinda ended up in the same schools, even if it was decades apart!

Christine Andrew and I work together and listen to Radio Kudo having our first cup of coffee in morning. He has phoned in a few times but maybe you did'nt realise it's the same Andrew you refering to, he's dad had retired and living in Cape Town

It's better than Springbok....  Most amazing music from the 60's 70's and 80's.... I never used to listen to any Namibian Radio Station, then I found out that a friend of mine was a DJ with them a few years back when they started.... got interested, then the signal came to town... and Bob's your uncle...."I'm hooked on a feeling... I'm high on emotion...! "

Sounds like my kind of station.
Springbock used to play the music of this time. But in the 70s that was kinda new music. Obviosly they'll be playing the new music of today...

Hey there!

I see the majority of Oranjemunders on the site (ex- and current) are mainly from the 50s, 60s and 70s era.  But what about the 80s babies??

I lived in Oranjemund throughout my whole childhood - from 1987 to 2005 - and will always consider myself an Oranjemunder by heart.  I'd love to know where the other 80s babies are.  So if you are one (or you know one??) give me a shout!

Otherwise - how is the little diamond in the desert doing??!!
HI Christine.
My family lived in Oranjemund from 1987 to 1991, when we moved to Australia.
My oldest sister is 33 and I am 29, but by litle sister Karen has just turned 21. I think we lived in 3rd Ave. its late so I will go. almost midnight, but hope some one remembers us. gnite

Michele Alexander (Voden)

Hi Tamara - I was in Std 5 in 1988 and I'm sure your sister was in our year. I can't remember her name though.

Hi Michelle
My sisters name is Marcella. She goes by Marci mostly. I remember she wore very thick glasses back then and the kids called her "Marci Glassy"
Really kind! It is nice to know someone remembers her. Do you have a school pic? She lives in Brisbaine and has a son, Xavier, who turns two on the 30th of June.

I remember the tank park! In about 1990 the people who ran the Skating ring, built a Putt, Putt course there. Is it still there? Do they still have skating?
