The store is abuzz with the latest gossip..... I have heard from three independent sources that the mine will be downscaling their workforce by 35% .Names are being submitted and by January 2009 , 800 workers will no longer be employed here. Now I know a few people will say, ag! just another rumour..... and like I always say..... I did'nt say these things are fact...this is what I am being told on the shop floor......

I am sure there will be an official announcement soon!

cant think of any more sadder news,but look on the bright side,lets hope the saudis do revive the place if thats going to breathe new life into om,someone ,somewhere will find an oppurtunity to invest,tooooooooooo good to miss in my veiw

Ja, as for the Saudi story, I saw a piece of paper the other day, where there is already a spanner being thrown in the works by government....... here comes the delay, which the investors don't have time for......

I think not a day goes by when I comment on what the future of the town should have been, but the people who think they are running the show, just do not get it........If they had gone with what I had said earlier, the town would not be depending on the mine for the local economy....but alas! it is now about two years past the sellby date....
