801 meters high and they are still not finished yet. Imagine being on the top floor when the wind picks up. I would definately need a spare set of underwear.

Nope  . i prefer not  to be up that high .. what if something goes wrong  and ouy stuck up on top floor  and there no way down ?/ I still have flashbacks to 911 where one saw people just jumping cos the fear of being burnt alive overcame the fear of jumping into the unknown .. and bet yur bottom dollar  things can and do go wrong ..  Is it true that after 911 they made survival kit  being a type of parachute  that one could use  for jumping from high buildings  in the  event of a disaster ??

@Sandy - Yea, some clever dick made a lot of money out of 911. He sold this system which mounts against your office wall near the "escape route". It's basically a single parachute, similar in design to those used by base jumpers. These parachutes are specially designed to open much quicker than the normal types, for obvious reasons. You just slip into the harnass and jump. The parachute opens automatically by means of a static line connected to the mounting bracket.

Cool he made money .. innovative idea ..  better to know you have some form of safety net .. i would sooner have a broken ankle .. than be burnt to  resemble a drunken braai  offering .. or  have to jump and ask my  Guardian angels to  catch me ...

Yes Carl, it's the Burj Al Arab (translation the Arab Tower) and as usual in Dubai, it must be the highest in the world ... they always have to be the best in everything ...

I have always seen  scryscrapers as  misguided  phallic symbols of power and  "I'm the best ,bigger and better " .. what  wealthy  person . or nation does not want the tallest  scyscraper with either their name on it  or  in their country ..
Trump Towers should have been named trumps dick tower ... ???
