Talking about eateries and bars within walking distance .. i always support those in my area  .. Woodstock is a bit of a " cinderella  suburb"  the more successful  venues the more of a destination it becomes .. so i will  post  those within  5 mins walking from my front door ..  starting lowest down on Roodebloem rd ..
deco lodge .. a backpackers .. an old block of  flats converted .. the owner  hannes wacky  .. I been to  a few  wild parties in the bar  .. pool table etc .. ( got to know owner  be invited ) or  stay there  to get in ..
The end result lots of tourists  ..of many nationalities .. and  Ricki London cabs buzzing  up and  down Roodebloem road

Next  .. Outspan  .. the new  venue of the  really disapointing prawn experience . not going back there in a hurry .. as the owner got a bit defensive when I  relayed my  concerns to her ..

Then Chandani .. ..Indian Cuisine  of the finest calibre and not  the macho  gut burning  mind blowing curry variety .. subtle flavour and exciting of the  senses is the order of the day  .. beautiful and authentic interior .. and Michele   ATT : a very extensive vegetarian  menu ( the owner is  vegetarian )

Next  Woodstock lounge .. laid abck  Pizza Pasta .. and a favourite venue for watching rugby .. martin and bev the owners set up  flat screen TV all over .. and the  place hums .. And Diana's  been there with me .. its got poles ..  and yes got  wrecked at many a late night  party there as well ..

Then  jamaica me crazy .. sort of  carribean cuisine .. upstairs balcony stunning on a good windless summers evening ..

Then frangipani .. daytime only .. just plain good food ..  and a sort of deli ..

And then finally  the old lady of the road  Don Pedro .. been going since  1991  when my  friend  sean opned up with a small  portable gas pizza oven . and tatty old garden furniture .. he grew the business .. till it  became  an all night venue .. many an early hours of the morning  after aprty  held there  ..  sold it a few years ago to his accountant who ran a spur ..   the  fool nearly destroyed it when he  tried to run it on spur lines .. it went down .. but was rescued  by one of  seans ex managers , Donna has taken over ,, but its  spirit is broken .. sort of limps along  food not as  good as it  used to be  years ago  .. but making money .. Pizza pasta  and  Cape cuisine ..

Ah yes The Lounge, a realy nice pub. I was very pleasantly surprised. I was saying to Sandy that I'm sure back in the 1970's it was my Aunts old house. Sandy don't be surprised if I turn up again.
Well I've now fully recovered from my late nite at the Wine Auction. Felt surprisingly fit yesterday morning,then at about 4pm it hit me,my eyes was tired.
Now Michael, you are just being a woose,so stop blaming the tutu being to small because its actualy an elastised orange G.String that the barman wear.
Hi Pam sorry to have ignored you last nite,was very tired.
Just by and by I'm also missing a Leprachaun. I think

At long last - someone else who wants to drink! Why aren't you watching the rugby? And to think we were considering driving down to Cape Town for the week-end to watch the rugby - wouldn't have been too pleasant in the rain!

Think we'll be starting with Scotch to-day. I don't watch rugby but it keeps Stephen busy while I 'm here. I did watch the New Zealand game this morning,not sure if was because I didn't have my glasses on but they just looked to be fighting all the time. Michelle did you see we have new weapons

Agreed Bobby .. broken dishes everywhere ..  anyhow Sipho will soon  no longer be under my wing .. metrorail have agreed to  out of court settlement for his loss of limbs to the tune of 3 Million  after lawyers fees he will come away with about 2.6 million ... that is a sum if  wisely  invested , carefully spent  can continue to grow .. he   popped around the other evening  to tell me of the offer and ask for advice .. told him to go for it as if he was  surviving on the palrty  Govt disability grant of R 900 +- / month  he could with care be set up for life .. Another couple who were in  our area  who were helping him along with oddjobs  ahve agreed to help him as guardians / trustees , to help him manage his money and keep it growing  , and he does need protection and there are  greedy  relatives  waiting in the wings and they would strip him of every cent .. i been  asked to  be  aprt of this  guardianship .. IOW .. he  would get an agreed  fixed allowance every month with  residue of  interest earned  being re-invested  to keep growth .. considering the request .. we would be doing it gratis as friends ..

I'm getting a tad concerned about our leprechaun friend as I haven't heard from her for a couple of days now and I'm sure she can't have eaten herself into a chocolate coma!
