Nicky this ones for you, I don't know how the phone books work in Perth, but is Albany in the same book as Perth? How many Robinsons live in Albany?  I know Keith and Pat won't have the net, but maybe Simon, Jason or Adele might!.......

???

Ps, I've also lost John Masons email, that property fella there in Perth, If you have a number, let him know about the site...

thnx

Hi Mike, I have just emailed John Mason Real Estate, and asked if John is the same guy that lived in O/mund. If he answers me, I shall certainly inform him of this great site. As for Keith Robinson, I have just looked in the Albany White pages (online), and can't find a Robinson with those initials. There are Robinsons' with the initials of S and J. I will give these two numbers a call tomorrow and see if it's them ok?

Just had a reply from John ...... It is he!!!! He tells me that he lived in Oranjemund in 1976. I emailed him back and told him about the site!! (small world).

Ha! Nicky , Good on you ( see my aussie slang is fair dinkum!) ..Those two in Albany might be the sons of Keith and Pat, Jason and Simon!.... Long shot...but thanks anyhow.... feel like Magnum PI...

G'uday Michael

What a magic site.

Thanks to Nick for alerting me to it. I spoke with Derek and Renee Waddington the other day prior to getting an email from Nick........ talk about it being a small world eh. I had just phoned Derek as my son and his girlfriend had gone down to Albany for a week and they were going to look up Scouse & Pat Robinson for me.

I haven't seen Scouse for years and years........... way back in 1976 he was instrumental in getting me a start with Hammersley Iron up at Paraburdoo.............. then in 1980 I repaid the favour as I got him a job as a boilermaker cum smiffy up at Panguna with Bougainville Copper. He was very popular up in Papua New Guinea with his squeeze box!

I have many happy memories of time spent in Oranjemund............. I used to work with a fine bunch of lads ably led by Hennie van Tonder such as Nick van Niekerk, Dougie Wilson, Ian Mclennan, Stan Brownless, Gerald Hodgson, Jim ? plumber with a beard from the yacht club! big 'Roy' from Scotland et al. Good times indeed.

I'll have a look around for some photos this weekend and email them to you.

I'm sure i have a few stories to tell too ..................... such as our famous boxing match, ie Pat Fourie and myself ............... then there was Nick and a poor contractor who didn't know what hit him ......... the panda-like eye shadow dished out to Ian Rowley etc etc.

regards from down under

My dad was having a good laugh when I read him your Penguin suit story......was curious to know if Scouse ever joined the craft? He also laughed at the sock stroy, reckons to me you never had any decent clothes, always wandering around with a T-Shirt, Flip Flops and shorts....    ;D

Like a dill I took a brand new 3 piece whistle & flute over to Africa............ obviously it was too hot to wear same over there?

I ended up giving it to Ephraim as a present......... he was one of my Ovambo co-workers........... and he was rapt.......... he looked proper smart and dandy in his waistcoat.

I never sat in open Lodge with Scouse because he had left PNG when I was initiated in 1987. He did wear the square and compasses on a ring............ plus he once asked me how old my grandmother was and i hadn't a clue at that time what he was on about?
