The Jackal and The Braai!

In the 70's our house was down at E7-1st ave. on the weekends when my folks were braaing , the back gate was always left open, and every single time the same Jackal would come to the braai, right up into the braai area to get meat....now and again he would bring a gemsbok with him, but the gemsbok would just chow the grass..... WHere in the world can you get this.....

After that flu broke out amongst the jackals he never came back.....   :'(

It gets even more bizarre.  The guy who was manager of the Brighton Pier up to, or just before the recent fire there, was an ex-Oranjemunder called Graham Longstaff!!  About 18 years ago I employed Graham as the Food Market manager after Lyn Stacey had moved on.  He was here for a while and then left.  I hadn't heard from him for years then, one day out of the blue, he sent me a note from Brighton.  We're still in touch.  (Kenny Ramage also knows old Graham).

I remember this jackal as well, from the Sunday braai.
I am sure the folks have a picture somewhere about. Lets see if I can dig it out for old times sake.

The row of trees behind 1st avenue were always a good playground in those days. Are they still about?

Nope GAry, those tree's have been chopped down about 20 odd years ago..... there's a huge topic in the forum discussing those tree's under the name 1st ave bush'es....

speaking of animals is that / those "strandwolf" still roaming around the river/beach?
i can recall being attack one night by one of those it ripped the tent open and destroyed a cooler bag.
