Anyone remember the Belgian Doc, who liked to prescribe Banana's for just about every single ailment?

i could make a susgestion as to the mans name but wont,who ,of the folk living in om in the early sixties rembers a nurs,me thinks she was a check or yuogaslavian[poor spelling i know]anyway her name was SISTER FUKKERHALL,no shit,imagine having that name ,by all accounts she was tasty and a very good nurse

this Belg doc was quite a caracter. he prescribed not just bananas , but apples as well . according to him , one should leave peeled apples on the shelve until it turns brown , and I understood it worked wonders for sore throats . I think he was the person who overturned his company car on the straight not far from the NG kerk . Once on a housecall he noticed the cat with kittens in the kitchen . After spending time with the animals , he left without seeing the sick child in the bedroom .

I remember that doc not only did you have to eat bananas, they had to be over ripe. Very strange Doc. but bananas are full of patasium (sp) so they must have done some good

I think you're referring to Dr. Dupont. His wife's name was Monique and he had 3 kids (Olivier, Sophie and Frederic) if I remember well. He was quite a funny guy and yes, he always advised his patients to eat very very ripe bananas. He had a accident one day (can't remember if it was in Oranjemund or before they moved there). his car overturned several times and he came out with only his fingers scratched because he was driving with his arm out the window and his hand at the top, next to the roof.
The reason I remember them so well is that, being French, we became friends and spent a lot of time together. I remember Olivier, the oldest son, had a chemistry set and we used to throw the metholated spirits on the cement alleys and set it alight with matches. Great some and smelt awesome ...!
We would also sneak out at night when our parents were out together. We'd slip shorts and t-shirts over our long pajamas ... what a sight ... and go play tok tokkie ... Aw, I miss those times

That's right Jnr. As a friend of mine once told me before moving to Saudi Arabia, if you have to wear the abaya (black robe for women), then you might just as well make the most of it and not wear anything underneath ... more comfortable!!!
