I heard from a reliable source that Debeers head office has firewalled Debeers employees from accessing this site during working hours. It seems I should take this as a compliment with all the traffic generated.  ;D

If any of you PC types are interested, we just passed 1GB of traffic downloaded in 14 days.

Thanks and keep on enjoying!

;D

Congratulations Mike,

Wonderful to get up a cubicled corporate person's nose isn't it?!

The site has just proven itself to be disruptive. This is excellent. As for Namdeb's reaction to it - classic corporate signs of defensive myopia mixed with absolute fear that this site will undo the brainwashing they espouse.

Namdeb suffer what I call the "Stepford Wives complex" . ie You should not be thinking for yourself. And EEK!, this employee #3456-DW2 is showing signs of cognative thought process, freedom to express their will, and wants to articulate what they wish and OM Online is threatening to corrupt the people during their legally allowed lunch hour during which they should be free to do what they want, and woe be unto him/her that visits the evil Oranjemund Online website for they shall surely become unclean.

What a crass and very stupid decision by Namdeb. Just shows how far up their backsides they have crawled.

Well done MIke. You have hit an exposed nerve in the corporation. I hope the narrow-minded tosser who told staff that this site is forbidden will identify themselves so that I can hold a 'conversation' with him/her.

And here I was wracking my brains for a topic to blog about at my corporation free iScatterlings. Now I have beauty to write about.

Thanks Michael and may the disruptive force be with you always! Viva Oranjemund Online viva!  :D

Regards

Robert Bruce

PS: Some companies still do not allow staff to browse the internet for fear of downloading a virus. This was aceptable practice last year and before but not anymore because anti-virus software has improved so much. If a company cannot invest in a good firewall then it deserves what it gets.

Robert! You just have a way with words....   ;D

Methinks that you moonlight as a motivational speaker in your free time?

hehehehe!  ;)

Me motivate? Yes I do. I have to.

I have multi-cultural staff spread across EU so have to motivate them all. Except the Nordics people. And the Germans. The Italians, French too. And as for the Belgians, they just do their own thing. The Irish are bad at accepting anything that comes out of England, the Scots just say two words, the Spanish just let you motivate and motivate and motivate until you realise that the more you talk the less attention they have to pretend to be giving.

Then there is the English.

If motivation became law within the EU then the Brits would be the first and only nation to adopt, impliment and work to this law. They would get community officers to enforce this law. They'd install CCTV in the workplaces to make darn sure the employees obeyed the law and remained motivated. They'd create a Motivational Policing Force. We'd get tax rebates if we were motivated. There'd be a motivation benefit for newly married couples.

All because it is a law. The rest don't give a toss, law or not.

As they say, where are you if there are no rules? France. Where are you if there are too many rules? Germany!

Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket?

Michael Alexander

That's why I tried to tell Paul on Saturday, that how come some of the NAmdeb guys were online on Friday? But Freddie reckons he also cannot access some of the site from work...

Methinks it was temporarily banned, somebody must have motivated it's re-opening, alternatively the surf control software hits were generating more traffic than the web site... so lesser of two evils prevails :) Either way, good to be back

You all Know its a plot by Security to check on what we got up to while we were there & by Management to see if its worthwile taking over the site.
