It was with much excitement, that I received a cd from Malcolm Bertoni in Australia, of soem lekker photo's from Affenrucken, the mine and Oranjemund , from his time in the Spergebiedt in the late 60's to mid 70's

..... on the first group of pics..... picture no 4, named town (small).... does anyone know where in town this is taken?

Mike .. # 4 & 5  are of the same area just from  different  view  ..  .. I dont  remember  anything in town like that  .. maybe .. but  " north  hostel "  ( the  one  closest to  town  on the mine )  as  they called it comes to mind   .. I  see  that Big  chimney   on # 4.. not in  town  or so close to the  edge ....

for the pics jeremy,fond memories re kindled,dont suppose those asbestos seats at the pool still excist,great shot of the retail store,i remember climbing all over those wooden varranders that shaded the shop windows,how many of us kids attempted to scale the palm trees out front or the store,i once got to the leaves only to suffer cuts and a sore from dropping to the ground,ha ha,great times

Hi Guys

You are probably right as I cant remember where and when I took the photos as I didnt have any information about the photos taken 35 years ago. So thought it was the town single quarters.  Thanks for clearing that up.

Ha! my father popped in for a visit at work today, i showed him the snaps, he retorted, that ain't Oranjemund, that's uubvley, ..... No it's not, malcolm marked it town..... I guess he was right, after all he did work there for 28 years....

Yes! .... and I'm sober, went out for SHannon's Birthday meal at Op My Stoep ( Riding CLub) with the family , did'nt touch a drop of the stuff........  Today it's off to the Putt Putt for the big one decade old birthday Party.....
